AMT 1962 Ford Thunderbird Sports Roadster 390 Tri-Power
espo replied to RandyB.'s topic in Model Cars
This color is perfect for this body style. The interior is very realistic looking. Great use of colors under the hood. -
The Rally Green color looks great.

See Round 2's after market tires for Red Lines of Good Year Polyglass tires. They offer both F & L 60 tire sizes. The simulated Mag Wheel Hub Caps can be found in the Lindberg '66 Chevelle kit as well as some red lines. In that era if you ordered Disc Brakes then either the Rally or Magnum 500 wheels were required. I don't recall ever seeing a Chevelle SS 396 with out Disc Brakes so they might have been standard. I do know that models other than the SS could be ordered either with or without Disc Brakes. Color will have to be your call. I would study the color chart for the Chevelle and see what they offered, and remember this was a time for an extra $100 or so you could even get them to paint it something from the Cadillac color wheel.

I like how the engine looks natural and slightly used.

I also like the colors on the body and interior. The stance looks like it could be a little lower ?

Sketch pads, never knew these existed
espo replied to Greg Myers's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I used to enjoy see these and other sketches from time to time. More than a few builders here used them for inspiration to build some of them. -
While visiting may favorite hobby shop a couple of weeks ago I was talking to one of their long time employees. We talked about models cars since that's my interest, but he told me their big sellers now are the Sci-Fi caricatures. If this is the direction of the market it doesn't bod well for model cars and trucks.

It would seem we share a pretty common view on what would make some interesting future models. I would also add the Alfa Romero's that have just come out. I know you have a very nice Challenger and I had an opportunity to get in one of the new Hell Cats on the dealers showroom floor. I just couldn't convince my wife that this is what we really needed, and we couldn't afford it anyway. But the point is I would love to build a model of it and I think it would sell well enough that Revell could show a profit by offering it. I agree with you on the Full Detailed offerings. This would be a must on any kit they offer.

International Tractor and Imex Car Carrier
espo replied to Joe Thomas's topic in Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment
The picture of the trailer on the top of the instruction sheet is the same view that Revell had on the front of their box. I had one for years and sold it since I just thought I'm never going to build it. The Revell kit had two Camaro Z-28's in addition to the trailer and they included some small chains used to secure the cars to the trailer. -
I followed your build and all the extra details you put into this one really show. Very sharp and clean looking. Your brother is going to love this.

Great looking color combination. Nice to see a showroom type build and the ride height is perfect.

I think many of us have our favorite exotic car we would like to see modeled. But I wonder what current cars, and you have to include trucks and SUV's, would be financially viable for one or more of the modeling companies to produce today. I would like to see the present and last body style of the Charger. They are a popular seller in the 1:1 market and this should work well for Law Enforcement builders. The Mustang and Camaro models seem to be selling well so I think if say Revell would look at some of the other popular cars selling today there might just be a market for models of these cars.

How many ways could this thread go ?
espo replied to Greg Myers's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I remember the TV program when Gage drove these and interviewed the creator. A lot of work went into these, like them or not, I think they're cool but I would have spent my money on something a little more main stream. -
Time For a Workbench Makeover!
espo replied to 2002p51's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I have used an old roll top desk I acquired many years ago. The previous owner had knocked out a couple of the little shelves that go across under the roll top for some reason. I use some spice racks that I got at Bed, Bath & Beyond for my paint bottles. The cubbies that are left hold different tools and the drawers hold my sanding pads and paper. The desk drawers are perfect for spray paint cans and Plastruct storage. I'd try and post a picture but #1 I'm not good at that and #2 right now it looks like a bomb went off on the desk top as I'm in the middle of two different builds and I'm the type that struggles to walk and chew gum at the same time. -
'73 Ford Bronco
espo replied to Mahogany Rush's topic in Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
Very nice looking Bronco. The tires don't look bad in the photos. They look just like the B.F.G.'s KM2 tires on our JK. -
When I first looked at the picture I thought you had left off the wheels and tires. That is LOW. I like the mid-engine idea.

These are pictures of an earlier model Monaro. Look at the '04 thru '07 Pontiac GTO's. They are little more than a face lifted Monaro. I got an '05 GTO with the 6-speed manual in June of '05 as a retirement gift from my wife. That car with the LS2 engine and fully independent suspension reminded me of when I had a full head of hair and a skinny waist as to opposed to now. They are very well engineered cars and the handling is amazing.

I left home about 8:30 am yesterday. As I drove out of the garage the cars thermometer said it was 45 degrees, that would have been inside the garage. Within about 100 yards it was down to 0 and stopped at -3 degrees. Did the driving I had to do and got to the market about 11:30. Very light snow, more like dust could be seen. When I left the market about 20 minutes later it was almost a white out but only about a quarter of was starting to stick. It was like being inside one of those glass globes that you shack up to activate a snow seen inside. Still minus temps but the snow ended after about an hour, just enough so that drivers had an excuse for running into each other on the road.

The mentioning of frost heaving or earth quakes can be a very expensive thing for homes with basements. Depending on the drainage around the foundation the freezing can actually crack the basement walls. As for the cold we have all heard about the toilet seats in the Yukon, but the pictures you see of people throwing boiling water in the air and seeing it instantly freezing is the most impressive to myself.

That is one fine looking wagon.

Beautiful looking suspension and frame. I hope you correct the right front tire tread direction before final assembly.

Beetle Bailey Jeep
espo replied to spencer1984's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
Beetle Bailey was back when the Cartoons in the paper were as much for adults as children. My father , a WWII vet., used to enjoy him as much as myself. -
Moebius '61 Pontiac with doors, trunk, fuel door, etc. openable
espo replied to traditional's topic in Model Cars
Mind blowing. I don't know what I can add to what everyone else has already pointed out. This makes me want to start on one of the '61 Pontiacs I have now.
