Ya I've never had good luck bouncing one off the wall either, but sometimes the release is worth it.

I like the molded bumpers and the front splitter.

Hard to tell from the angle of this picture, but the rear window opening reminds me of the '61 Chevrolet 2 and four door sedans. They had a slight wraparound with the roof extending flat over the top edge of the rear window. The windshield looks very much like the '61 Chevrolet, Pontiac, Oldsmobile and Buick models.

I picked one up a while ago. Going to try to build the car Benny Parsons won the '73 Championship in. He used a '72 Monte Carlo with DeWitt Trucking livery. #72 was painted a little darker red than Bobby Allison's car and of course some different decals. This is a very nice kit no matter which driver you build it for.

My wife has experienced the exact same problem and we haven't even moved. The problem as we have seen is the Human Resources Departments. These departments are filled with young resent collage grads with little or no understanding of what the job entails that they are supposed to find someone to fill. They will ask for and expect so many years of experience and education levels but if the applicant fulfills that requirement then they are to old in the Resources Departments mind. They will offer interviews to much younger inexperienced applicants, much like themselves, since they can't seem to relate to anyone that is qualified. In a couple of cases my wife had actually met her prospective supervisor at association meetings and they had asked for and gotten her resume. They said they wanted her but she had to go thru the Human Resources Department. When the supervisor asked the Resources Department later why my wife had not been called in for an interview they were told she didn't qualify. My wife is a licensed CPA who graduated at the top of her class at the University of California at Sacramento. She was awarded a Yellow Sash that indicates she graduated in the top 10% nationally. She sat for the test and passed all four parts at once with no "Life Lines" as they do now. And somehow she didn't qualify ? The person that would have been her supervisor has told her the person they hired is almost untrainable and would make a good entry level accountant let alone an assistant to the CFO and his eventual replacement. Don't think for a minute that they didn't look at her age either, that is a very big problem that isn't going away until companies start getting serious about who is doing their hiring.

The level of detail that the railroaders go too is unimaginable. As a child I had an American Flyer brand toy train. As nice as it was it was a toy compared to what we see here. I remember some sort of liquid I think that you could put down the stack and it would smoke a little. Besides the time and effort seen here he would have to have a fortune in this layout.

So last week end I'm servicing my riding mower. This is a Sears mower I bought around 15 years ago. Only minor fixes thru the years so no complaints about that. The problem is that with Sears imploding business wise getting parts has become a problem. There are two drive belts on the mower deck and they are beyond frayed. I used to go to Sears and buy what ever I needed. Even for a couple of years after they closed the big retail store they had a small store for parts and so that wasn't a problem. Now that that has closed the only way to get the correct parts is to go thru Sears online. This is were everything went into the "pull chain facility". First off they wanted me to drive 150 miles to the nearest store that they would ship too, I'm not doing that.. In desperation I called their toll free number to speak to a human. There was a very big language barrier and even though I provided the part numbers she still managed to mess it up. I needed the two belt, she got those right. Needed an oil filter and that was ok also. I ordered the two part air filter. Even with the part numbers she kept talking about a gas filter which I can get locally for @2.98. I received my conformation from Sears and even though she had read the part numbers back to me she still managed to not include the air filters I needed and instead she ordered a fuel filter. Now Sears can't be reached on the phone, they aren't open yet according to the answering machine, and I'm still waiting for a reply to my E-Mail. When this ridder goes to the big composter in the sky I'll be looking at anything but a Crapsmen mower.

Very clean fit and finish. I like the paint and the day two look.

Beautiful looking Corvette. You would never know you had any problems with it looking at it now.

Great looking Bonneville Racer, looks like it just had a run down the course. I especially like your engine in this build.

’61 Ford Starliner Mild Custom: Paint, Unmasked!
espo replied to John Goschke's topic in WIP: Model Cars
Your vent window / moldings look perfect. Amazing how much better this looks. Your wheels and tires are just what you would expect on this model. -
And she's still trying to figure out why no will hire her. As for Five Guys, we have one a couple of miles down the road, they have great Burgers and Fry's. If you haven't tried them you owe it to yourself, just go hungry cuss they aren't bashful about the servings.

MPC Chrysler Hydro-Vee "Charger" Boat Kit and Other Boat Kits

That trailer is outstanding. -
The '57 Bel Air interior could have several options for color. The Red that bamadon mentioned would offer a great contrast. I might consider a Silver interior, with the Black cloth inserts on the seats and door panels with the black dash board would also look nice. Another thought would be to check oldcarbrochures.com. There you can view sales brochures on the '57 Chevrolet and that might even offer some other ideas as long as you're staying with a stock look. If you are thinking Custom Interior than you can do what ever you like. Silver is like White in that it tends to go with almost any color.

Are you sure that's not John - Deere Green ? -
That is BRIGHT. Nice clean looking build.

Great looking build. I like the color & interior combination.
-
I like the "street driven" style of your build. Great color and smooth finish. Well detailed engine and interior.
-
Great looking color and finish. Nice to see the different wheels you used. I followed your build, this turned out as great as I knew it would.
-
Nice looking Low Ridder.
-
An idea on the interior. See if you have any of the Revelle '59 or '60 Impala kits, they have decals for the cloth inserts on the seats and door panels. As I recall they even have two or three different color also. This will give the El Camino and Impala interior.

Consider the fact that the model seems to disassemble it's self consider your self lucky. Most of these usually are held together with so much glue you have to destroy the body getting it apart. This should make your cleanup and anything else you have in mind for it very easy. The paint even looks like it will come back with some polishing.

And all this time I thought it was just a local problem, it would seem that bad drivers abound. Tow good ones to share that happened yesterday and the other just two hours ago returning home from a doctors appointment. Yesterday I'm at the shopping mall getting into my car. Lady about four spaces away is leaving her parking place. She had either backed in or drove thru the space behind her since she is not backing out but driving forward. As she turns her Suburban to inter the driveway exit I hear a scraping noise and then the distinct sound of bending sheet metal and then a crashing sound as parts of the fender of the car parked next to her has the fender smashed and the grill ripped off the front of an older Chrysler. She just drove off as if nothing had happened. Just today I'm returning on the interstate with three lanes and three semis going up the hill side by side. This is a 70 MPH zone and if you're going 70 you better be in the right hand lane. This Tortoise drag race up the hill was going 55 - 60 MPH. You can't imagine how fast the cars started backing up behind them. The three drivers went about two miles before one of them backed off enough so that cars could start getting around them. I almost didn't get over fast enough to get my off ramp. That is a very handsome looking rig. Besides your above average stature limiting you as to what you can get in and out of, it would seem that you are among the few that need such a vehicle. My biggest objection is that, at least locally, the people operating these things probably struggle to operate a standard size vehicle and when they get in something this size they seem to charge around the streets with no regard for anyone or anything else on the road.
