Your reference picture of the green and white Del Rio is how Ford did the two-tone paint from the factory for the front. An attractive color combination. The rear paint treatment is where some controversy may come in. The only thing that really matters is what you want it to look like. I have seen it done two ways as an OEM paint treatment. #1 would be like was done on the passenger cars. The break would be from the bottom center of the tail lamps to the bumper leaving the tail gate area the same color as the middle color on the body sides. #2 May have been a factory option since I recall seeing it done also in this fashion when these were new. Ford had a small diameter chrome trim that started where the rear window opened and curving along the top of the taillight fin and ending in the center of the top of the fin. This was to break the side colors from the roof and lower body leaving the tailgate the same color as the roof and lower body. Strickly as a visual example and not trying to tell you how to do your color treatment in any way, this picture is just an example to see if it would even be a consideration.

Like the understated color and great paint finish. Clean grill and bumpers. Nice interior upgrades. The engine looks like "Pop" could get to the beach on a hurry if the Surfs Up.

The Waltons Pickup Truck
espo replied to Gustavo Reis's topic in Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
Like seeing a good old fashion work truck. Realistic looking finishes and the long bed and bigger wheels. -
Like the color scheme and the stance.

Hi Jeff, thanks for looking in. I have been lucky using the Tamiya rattle can white on several builds. In fact, my 1:1 cars and trucks have more often than not been white, I just think they look cleaner, and the PD doesn't seem to notice them as much.

1960 Ford F-100 Pickup Pro Street

I'll enjoy watching them both. -
Beautiful looking paint finish and chrome details. I think this is what used to be called a "Street Freak". From what you can see of the suspension it looks as if that is done to the same standard as the paint work.

Great looking paint color and finish. I actually saw one this same color on the highway a couple of days ago. Hard to miss it. Cleanly detailed body trim and engine.

Great looking dark blue color and finish. Started on this same model this week. What did you use for the grill? I had robbed the factory 2x4 setup for another project and flopping around for a replacement, what did you use?

Beautiful looking color and finish. Not normally a fan of vinyl roofs on 1:1's or scale models, but when done like this I think it looks great. Great engine detailing and stance.

Being a Ford, maybe a blown Cammer engine? -
That is sometimes referred to as a "Product Mix" depending on the products involved.

Another alternative to foil or decals maybe to use Tamiya TS-21 Gold spray for the inset. Suggest masking the area where it meets the chrome trim before foiling. After the paint dries just mask the area off when painting the body.

Revell Dune Buggy ID Question
espo replied to oldcarfan's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Reminds me of a friend's "Toad" kit car from the sixties. -
Glad to hear that you are living large. Now I'm hungry again.

Wonder if a Dodge Durango kit would be a viable option? SUVs seem to be the norm everywhere I look, and these can be equipped with an attitude in both 2wd and AWD. The local and state law enforcement agencies seem to like them, and a kit could be offered as a civilian or a working version. I have to believe that if Round 2 were to offer such a kit with the fit and finish of their latest Charger kit they would have a winner. What do others here think of this idea?

Like the smooth body work. Removing the gun sights from the hood along with the signage on the front and rear trunk was often done when these were new. Removing some of the signature side trim also makes the body look longer and smoother. Great looking stance.

I spent far too many years in the car business. Mainly issues with the owners of dealerships is what got me to retire early. Still have PTSD flash backs every now and then.

I just lost my appetite.

Still buying Boars Head Ham in the KC area with no issues. When this all came out it was, and I'm guessing still is, mainly in the eastern seaboard states. The local markets have signs up in their delis mentioning that their meats are not part of the problem. May apply to a local meat distributer in the East. Got some in the refrigerator now and this has me thinking it is about time for a ham sandwich anyway.

I'll bet they read a lot of Tom Sawyer stories growing up.

Great color and finish. Like the way you did the body chrome. Veery clean looking build.
