Thanks David ! Those blue line Goodyears ARE in the latest reissue !
-
Thanks much Alan ! Thanks ! Thanks very much John ! Yes a tire pack would be great ! Or at least in another kit with better parts that can be used elsewhere .
-
Well now that's just about the neatest windshield mod I've ever seen , definitely going to be one nice Green Hornet !

Even though I grew up in the 60's and watched the television show I've never had much interest in building this kit , but I like nice tires and when I saw the blue line Goodyears in this latest reissue I decided to give it a try . It's a very basic kit , typical of these types from the 60's . The only real issue I found was that out of the box the tires aren't centered in the body openings , so I spent the time to correct this by relocating the axles . At the same time I widened the front track 3/16" and narrowed the rear track the same 3/16" so the tires fill the openings correctly , or at least better than they did . So here's my Monkeemobile , built out of the box except for aftermarket decals and some polished aluminum tailpipes . I also added my own 6.5 Litre and Dean Jeffries badges , they're a bit larger than I planned but I still think they look okay . Paint is Tamiya TS-8 Italian Red and Krylon Ivory . Thanks for looking ! All comments welcome .

For all of your troubles it still looks mighty nice ! I'm a bit weird 'cause I always preferred the look of a '67 with the soft top "up" .
-
That is soooo cool , love the hot rod black primer look !
-
Excellent looking race car Blake , your detailing looks spot on to me and congrats on the win first time out ! I learned the same way as your Dad and still use many of those old ways when building my own models , I'm sure he's very proud of you !

Very kewl Dan , excellent paint and detailing ! Good call not making it a roadster , looks much better this way !

Surf's Up! Monogram Early Iron Woody Wagon 1965 Style
TooOld replied to Dave Darby's topic in Model Cars
Beautiful Woody Dave , love the polished yellow plastic ! The '32 grille looks right at home and great work on the decals , there's a small learning curve printing your own but those look excellent to me ! -
Well done Tony , looks great in red ! Don't models look so much better with separate windshield wipers instead of having them molded in ? Why they all aren't like this I can't understand .
-
Thanks DW ! I have that pic somewhere but forgot I had it , I think that smaller pic you posted is a restored car not the race car . I also found this shot from the '71 Daytona 500 . . . guess I'm adding the headrest !
-
I like this one ! Can I choose which exhaust I get ?
-
Thanks John ! Yeah those sink marks on the rear bumper are pretty bad , they should have caught those . I was going to add the headrest but decided not to , from all the pics I've looked at it's in the restored cars and museum cars but wasn't actually in the '71 race car . . . I'm sure if I'm wrong somebody here will let me know .

Thanks very much Jim , appreciate that ! Thanks Gareth ! I've got the "Fired Up" Zinger Van yet to build .
-
Thanks Mario , we need more Ranchero kits ! Thanks much Bill ! Thanks much Tommy ! I'm hoping to finish another one-off this year . Thanks very much Tim ! I've always had trouble taking decent photos so I've been working hard to improve .
-
Thanks Steve ! It's a little darker than I wanted , probably should have gone with a gold engine . Thanks Bill , they are ! I actually did a few more but didn't show them here . Thanks much Carl ! Thanks Craig !

TooOld replied to SteveFL's topic in Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
Well done Steve , that's one great looking van and those decals are really cool !! Where did you get the Testors Decal Bonder ? -
I missed this one too ! Wow that's some nice paint work , well done Tim ! I saw him race at Daytona a coupe of times in the early 70's and got his autograph at the '75 500 , such a nice guy who really enjoyed racing .

Beautiful work Jason , those colors are gorgeous together ! I can appreciate that you'd do some things different but we're all our own worst critics , it really turned out great .
