Didn't have to think about it very long . . . trimmed down the sunvisors and they look much better . Now I can move on .
-
I made up the sunvisors using .020" brass rod and styrene sheet , then cut .010" sheet that wraps over the brass rod when glued . Then .020" styrene rod was glued around the edges . Also added the uniquely shaped mirror . The sunvisors were mounted by drilling the edge of the extra thick windshield , a little scary but it worked okay . I also added the strikers for the top latches . Made from some channel with a small rod glued to the top , they came out much better than I expected ! Looking at photos online the Dodge sunvisors are larger than most other cars but I may have made them too big . I think I can remove the piping without damaging the visors and trim them down a little . Still thinking about that .

Looking forward to this one Lee , that Emerald Green looks great ! I've got a Meyers Tow'd I've been wanting to build for a while now , maybe yours will motivate me .

Hey Jim , here's the Corvette ! I've got both of these , they're both typical motorized Japanese kits .

Lookin' good Jim ! That Vallejo paint looks pretty good to me , not chrome of course but more like a polished metal .

Great job so far with the steering wheel and I'm sure you won't quit until it's how you want it . I usually don't see things like that until after I take photos .

Thanks David !

The one I did worked great , it fit perfectly over the hypo tubing I used for the antenna .

Sounds great David ! Would really like to see one of those resin kits go together !

As Steve suggested the boot needed to be tapered much more , so instead of starting over I went ahead and worked on it with some sanding sticks . Much better now but I need to rethink the snaps . I'm going to try these for the snaps , the solid ones should work . I used one of the washers for the antenna base on my '71 Roadrunner and it worked great except that they're very hard to hold on to !

Thanks much Wayne !

Thanks very much Dave !

Thanks Steve ! I agree and am already planning on a redo to taper the edges and space the snaps more evenly .

There's a couple of things that need to be done to finish the interior but I've been struggling with the convertible top boot for the last couple of weeks . I had planned on using the '59 Chevy boot but it didn't fit the curvature of the body very well and looked bulky to me . Still I worked on modifying the boot by adding plastic to the underside and shaping it to fit the body . That worked but made it even more bulky so I scrapped the idea . Not wanting to ruin the boot I decided to make another with my Vac-U-Form . This worked and I was even able to make it fit the body fairly well , but still it didn't look like the photos I've seen of the '60 Dodge convertibles . Actually all of the Chrysler products from the era had nice low profile boots , almost flat , and that's what I wanted . I decided to start from scratch and make my own and after a couple of tries I've got something I can work with . I have photos showing the ones that failed but will just start with the final boot . First I used some masking tape to make a pattern . Then transferred the pattern to .020" sheet and drilled holes to clear the snaps on the body . After adding some plastic here and there and some shaping it fits pretty good . Next another piece was cut from .010" sheet . This gets glued on to cover the holes and will be the finished surface . From the bottom side I used a small hammer and short length of rod to make the raised snaps . Not as even as I'd like but it's good for now . A couple of photos with the boot placed on the body . Probably could have used a thinner sheet to start with but I've been stalled on this long enough . Time to move on and revisit this when it's time to paint .

Interesting . . . I ordered one sheet and the shipping was $2.95 . Total was $15.90 , still more than BMF but worth a try .

If you do hear from them I'm betting they tell you that the current "Chrome" they have on their site is the same as the "New Improved Chrome" , that they only ran out of stickers and had to use the Chrome stickers . That's what they were telling vendors but it's not true , the current "Chrome" is thicker than the "New Improved Chrome" they have sold the last few years . If you have any left safe it for emblems and such , the new stuff won't work .

Very cool and a great looking Charger ! I remember watching several Winston West races back in the early 70's and Ray Elder was unbeatable !

Jim is correct , I was told the same thing when I called BMF a month or so ago . I called them because their website shows everything in stock but no "New Improved Chrome" . I did an exhaustive search and emailed several vendors that showed "New Improved Chrome" being in stock , they all replied that the sticker actual said "Chrome" and they just haven't changed their websites . Both Hobbylinc and a vendor in Australia insisted that it was "New Improved Chrome" so I ordered a sheet from both places . Guess what ? They lied , I received "Chrome" from them both .
