  1. Nicely done! I have built this kit in the past and know the many issues with the kit that you had do deal with.
  2. I agree with everyone else - outstanding build and the paint is flawless. Nicely done.
  3. Now that is a good looking cop car! I like it!!
  4. Nicely done and great looking paint job! The color is perfect.
  5. Nicely done, I like it.
  6. I am in concert with everyone else, nicely done!
  7. Outstanding!! Nicely done.
  8. For the seatbelts I used the paper that came in the Pro Tech 5-point racing harness set - # PTMC 17. This paper has a nice cloth texture and I used a red Sharpie to color it. I would think that something similar could be found in craft paper. Once the seatbelts were assembled, I made a solution of white glue and water that I applied to the belts and then realistically draped them on the seats.
  9. I like it!! Very nicely done. Neat and clean.
  10. Beautifully done. An outstanding job.
  11. Outstanding build!! I like it - LOTS!
  12. Thanks again to everyone for the nice comments. In answer to DustyMojave and Sledsel, yes I did use the Bill Stroppe Edsel as my influence to build this. I was initially going to use the same paint scheme that was on the original car but then decided to go with something more related to the driving light covers - the red, white and green of the Mexican flag. And thanks to DustyMojave for the back story concerning Scott and Louise, I found it very interesting.
  13. Thank you all for the nice comments on the Baja Edsel. It is much appreciated.
  14. Thank you so much, Venom, and everyone else, for the kind words.  It is always nice to hear that others are enjoying my work.  Thank you all and stay safe and sane? - is that possible for a modeler?

  15. I have no idea where the tires came from. I have bought several collections over the past couple of years and the tires were most likely in one of them. Thanks on the skid plate, that is my own design.
  16. Just finished this the other day and thought I would share it with everyone. I am always looking for the unusual to build and when I saw a photo in a Hot Rod Magazine of a '58 Edsel tricked out for the Baja, I just had to build it! I started out with the AMT/ERTL '58 Edsel Pacer kit, which in itself is a nice little kit and then went to town modifying the body and interior. I used a reworked NASCAR roll cage, bucket seats from the parts bin, wheels and tires from long forgotten kits and numerous scratch built items. The driving lights were scratched and I used wine bottle foil for the light covers. The covers on the roof lights are my own design that I made using dry transfer numbers and decal paper. The color scheme is a take off on the Mexican national flag. I made the seatbelt harnesses using PE hardware and paper for the belts. The dash was modified and I added a CB radio and fire extinguisher along with a road map. The chassis was detail painted and I added a scratched engine/oil pan shield and aluminum tubing exhaust. I am not sure what all the "extras" on the body are, they just looked really cool in the photos of the real car, so on they went! This was an fun and enjoyable build and was a departure from my usual factory showroom builds. Enjoy the photos!
  17. Just got my end of a great trade with hedotwo (Rich Cox). Thanks Rich.
  18. Nicely done!
  19. Thanks everyone for the info. I now have a better idea of what I will do with the kit. Thanks again.
  20. I recently purchased some kits from an estate sale that included this '53 Corvette. The kit number is T310 and the kit is complete and still sealed inside. Nothing has been started or painted. The tires are the two piece plastic ones. My question is when was this kit produced/issued? Is this an original issue kit? I have looked the kit over from one end to the other and cannot find any date of issue. Another thing that I noticed is that there is no UPC or bar code on the box. I did check the instruction sheet for a date and noticed on the bottom of the last page that the address was listed as Lesney AMT Corporation. Also, on the back on the decal sheet, I noticed a code stating T-310-701 5/78. Does this mean the kit was issued in May of 1978? As you can see from the photos, this kit is in excellent - make that MINT - condition with virtually no shelf wear. It is like the previous owner purchased the kit, took it home and inspected it, then put it away in a safe place and forgot about it. This is as new as the day it was issued. Any help in determining the age of the kit and current value will be appreciated. Thank you.
  21. Thanks everyone for the great advise and suggestions, it is appreciated. After much thought and consideration, I have decided that I will go ahead and prime the body with Tamiya gray primer. Then I will either spray a couple of light coats of Tamiya white primer (to help the color coats to stay bright) or I will go ahead and spray the color coats. Hopefully, the Silver Jade is dark enough (over the gray primer) that the yellow will not bleed through. However it turns out, it will be a learning experience and that is what this hobby is about. You win some, you lose some.
