  1. Excluding the extravagant stack, I’d totally rock that as a daily. As usual, nice work Chuck!
  2. Sounds good Bill - make sure to post pics of your efforts!
  3. Before anyone gets too critical, the red car I showed was done that way by design for the Rat Rod CBP. It was never intended to look like a concourse restoration. You're probably the first to notice that detail. Anyways........ M..V lenses are just fine for a shelf model that most of us build for fun. I use Krystal Klear over the moulded headlights so the facet detail is not lost. This style of headlight is one of the worst things a kit manufacturer could do to us builders.
  4. I got as far as applying styrene + filler to the gaps in the body work. My patience ran out when I tried to sand the body and it kept falling apart on me. Even went as far as to reinforce the material on the back side with pins and epoxy to add structural strength. My advise is to take your time and be gentle! Seeing your build makes me wish that I had boxed the project instead of throwing it away. All was not lost tho, was able to use the chassis for a Rat Rod build. Best of luck!
  5. Lots of good suggestions here, although I never had any sort of success with the Testors clear cement/window maker. Lately I've been using Microscale Kristal Klear. Its better than nothing, but not quite as good as the lenses sold by Scale Productions. Literally just apply a drop on top of the molded headlight lenses as needed with a toothpick and watch it dry. No further effort needed. I have a sneaky suspicion that this stuff is just a rebottled container of Elmer's school glue! The M.V. Products Head Lamps plus sold by Detail Master work well too, and seem to be a cheaper alternative to the Scale Productions products, sold at $4.50Eur . Must say, Can-Con looks to have the technique mastered! This one was build with the M.V. lenses: This one was build with Krystal Klear over the molded lenses: (unfortunately the Krystal Klear wasn't totally dired when I took this pic) -Steve
  6. I like you're vision lol That color looks "right" on the Model A!
  7. I like where this build is going! Have a soft spot for the Revell/Monogram '37 Ford pick ups and delivery trucks. They're surprisingly good kits. I too tried to chop the delivery body - and failed. Almost pulled it off, but threw out the body after some frustration and unnecessary stress. The subtle curves and lines on this body are more challenging to get right after a chop than what it appears. Looks like you know what you're doing. Keep up the good work. SC
  8. Can't get enough of this shot! Looks mean..... I'd be proud to own the 1:1!
  9. Sharp looking build. The two tone color choice really compliments the car
  10. Nice work - love the burnt Titanium look on the exhaust
  11. Nice to see you pick up where you left off Ryan. Keep yup the good worok!
  12. Nice build! Love these nostalgic/retro/traditional/banger, whatever-you-call-it rods! I’ve been dreaming up a similar concept myself for a future project. I’ll be watching this one – keep up the good work.
  13. ...because Wikipedia is always correct..... lol I'll revisit the idea of joining in on this CBP later. None of my hobby vendors within 45 miles sell kits with spoke wheels or aftermarket items. Sellers on eBay want WAY too much for S&H to Canada. Looks like I'm out. Can't wait to see what the rest of you build.
  14. That ole Ford has some serious altitude!
  15. Looks fantastic so far!
  16. Not sure what you have against teh color, but it looks pretty close to the 1:1. Nice work - one of the better built versions of this kit that I've seen.
  17. Likewise! I have 4-5 MPC/Fujimi/Tamiya CelicaXX/Supra kits in my collection @‌ James - nice color and great subject!
  18. Love it! You nailed the visual texture of the different "aged" metails and paint.
  19. Very nice colour choice!

    Looks good!
  21. OK - I see that now...
  22. One of the best events held at the Toronto Indy street track several years back was the World Challenge Trans Am cars (dont' remember what the series was called then). The one class had a privateer with a tube chassis and fiber glass Gen2 RX7 body on it. The factory powered Jag and LSX powered C5 Corvette hadded the privateer his backside in the corners, but the RX7 held its own on the straights. Remember he track anouncer saying that this little car would rev to 12,000RPM all day long. Belived it did, as it was easility one of the LOUDEST cars there, including the Indy/Cart cars. The sound was as unique as it was loud too.
  23. OK - here are some (lousy) iPhone pics: 1. Testors Flip Flop purple over Testors gloss black enamel: 2. Testors Flip Flop purple over blue styrene (no primer or base coat): The front side for comparison: 3. Testors Flip Flop purple over "Nighthawk Black Pearl" by Duplicolor: The results were had to capture in a single pic, but tests #2 & #3 offered to most "effect". The weather this past week hasn't been cooperative for direct sunlight pics either. Since its paid for, I will be using the method in test #3 for an upcoming build. The product is still below my expectations and would not waste money on the product again. Would recomend buying a single can of Metalic Purple instead of Testors 2986 Purple Flip Flop + a base coat.
