  1. The AMT Surf Woody has a 289 and automatic, think it is a C4 but not 100% certain.
  2. It was a bit pricey, but it was a nicely detailed kit. I don’t know about sales numbers, but it was popular enough to have been scaled down to 1:35.
  3. True for 1958 and later Delrays, but '55-57 Delrays were interior upgrades for the 210 series. Hope this helps!
  4. Try contacting The Hobby Centre out of Ottawa (www.hobcen.com). They have a good selection of paints, and are open for mail order. Hope this helps in your search.
  5. Looks really nice! I need to pull my kit out so I can finally build my Cougar from years past. The Cougars and Thunderbirds from that era were fabulous road cars.
  6. Over the past week, I have been playing around with the old Revell 1:32 snap kits, which were some of the first kits I built as a kid. These kits are so basic, there is very little you can do with them beyond careful painting and assembly. I was able to finish detail painting the chassis, which looks nothing like the chassis of a C1 ‘Vette, (or the baby Bird or the full size ‘57 Fords and Chevs, to be honest!)
  7. I have not reached the point where I need to worry about rivets on my RA272, still building the engine. Without research, I would suggest 1/32", or possibly smaller.
  8. The PS series tends to be a bit hotter than the TS series. I have sprayed some of the PS over TS with fair results (PS-47 Pink/Gold over TS-59 Pink Pearl), but I have also sprayed PS-47 over automotive primer and had it lift the primer (that’s the car in the pic. It looks alright in the pic, but blotchy and uneven in person). You are better off to test your potential choices on a scrap body or plastic spoon, and see how it goes. as always, YMMV.
  9. I think it is a matter of rarity of the models. For the longest time, it was reasonably easy to find copies of the early '80s MPC kits, especially ones like the Cavalier, EXP, Charger, Fiero, and Daytona. There was a pent-up demand for the 70s Pintos, Gremlins and (hopefully soon) Vegas, which has been fulfilled over the past few years. I think it is a matter of letting Round 2 catching up and realizing that it is getting harder and harder to find these old MPC kits. If they would reissue these kits, I would buy some, as long as Round 2 gives us clear (instead of smoked) glass, and Radial T/A tires that don't eat into every clear part they touch. And please, bring back the Supra!
  10. Looking good! How well do the decals lay down on these kits, have a similar Z4 in the build pile?
  11. One possible route is to check out the rivets available from Archer Decals. These decals are available through a number of military model suppliers. Hope this helps you out with your search.
  12. The Chevy V8 would be nice to have back, even if only for the different intake and exhaust options, but the one I would like to see reissued is the 1/4 scale Slant Six. I’ve been able to find the Chevs at swap meets, but never the Six.
  13. Since I was doing some cleaning, I took a few pictures of my decanting rig. These pieces, plus a screwdriver and juice can opener, are my main tools. The rig, all ready to depressurize the can. I depressurized all these Tamiya cans in less than 25 minutes. The can at the top of the picture was a can of Testor’s Black Vinyl Top paint, which came out thick and under a lot of pressure. At least I tried...
  14. I use a 1/4" saddle valve (used for hooking up automatic ice makers to home water pipes), and a couple of hose clamps. I depressurize the cans, then open them with a juice can opener.
  15. Unfortunately for me, there are two shows on the same weekend which are much closer to home, so I will have another year to save up. On the brighter side, it should give me time to complete some builds for next year’s show.
  16. While I accept that the world is in a dire situation, and we need to keep distances, it feels very different not being at the NNL this weekend. Usually by this time (just after 9:00 PM), I would be back at the hotel and going through my purchases, exhausted and happy. Who else on the board is missing the action?
  17. If memory serves, the '57 Bird had slotted mags and some engine bits as custom parts. Every issue of the kit has had the same custom parts, so you should be good (ask the seller for pictures of the windshield frame, because they tend to be crushed in the box). I may have to get a new reissue in order to rebuild my '55 Bird.
  18. There is at least one place in Germany where you can rent a Trabant for touring. A friend of mine did this last year on his vacation, described it as an 'experience'. Hmmm...
  19. The build looks nice in pictures, might as well keep it like that for now. BTW, the '59 Ford bumper was the only choice in the Revell kit until the chopped version from the early 1980's.
  20. The wheelbase is supposed to be longer on the Bonneville over the Catalina/Grand Prix. A ‘65 or ‘66 Impala from Revell would make a good donor chassis, and the roof from the Chev would make a good replacement for the Bonneville’s roof (who let the tool through QC without noticing the window openings were different from side to side, anyway?)
  21. The engine is a late-model 5.0 but about the only difference is the inlet for the radiator hose on the water pump (passenger side from ‘62 to the late 70’s, driver’s side from that point until 2001). Hope this helps in identification.
  22. There is (was?) a Traveller conversion available through Replicas and Miniatures of Maryland, which fit the Tamiya kits. It was in a flyer I received a few years back, but I need to find a few more bits before I place another order.
  23. Bought this recently, but haven’t posted until now. It needs some windshield repair, but I have some donors handy (now to decide if I want to keep it a ragtop or make it a hardtop.
  24. All three clubs I belong to are shut down due to the pandemic. One club did have a meeting on Facebook, but I don’t wish to sign up.
  25. How much longer until you take over the entire building, Howard? I thought your model room was tight when you first moved in.?
