This is all rattle cans. 1st painted the entire body gold. I took a mailing box not much bigger then the body itself. cut open one end at a slight angle to mimic the angle of the colors as shown placed just enough to allow the nose to stick out from about the center of the front wheel openings exposed . Then spray the white nose using Tamiya pure white, followed by a misting of Testors white lightning to get the pearl look to it. Again over the white part of the nose only. Holding the body in hand I sprayed the back of it just maybe a couple inches from the tail lights forward . With what ' I think it was a testors' DARK metallic red. followed by 2 or 3 light coats of Tamiya Clear red with the heavier coats towards the back end of the body. Thus making it look like it fades into the gold. Using the previous box . Place it over the front end of the body . spray a light coat of clear red. . prior to the next coats slide the box back maybe an inch . Essentially making the red get darker as it goes rearward. Its a little hard to see the fade in pictures,,but its there . Then 2 or 3 coats of wet look clear once the decals are on it . This is a curbside build.. There's no engine , the hood is glued shut , chassis and interior is nothing but Duplicolor satin black and very little interior detailing picked out with a silver sharpie . I built in a day. Just to see if I could do it

bring it on bro. Garage is empty.....for now. Plus my preferred painter now has access to a real nice paint booth. So i can now keep everything in house . But here are a few under hood pictures. The premise from the very beginning was a car that looks factory stock to the casual observer without really sweating the tiniest of details. ( no date coded plug wires , ribbed vacuum lines etc ) . He was told NOT to buy it. It was that rough. But he wanted a father and son project, But soon found out rather quickly he was over his head. Thats where I came in. And over the past 4 - 5 years Ive had it. Working on it as my time and his finances allowed . Every nut bolt and screw has been touched from end to end . Probably a little more work/detail then he originally envisioned . But he is ecstatic with the final outcome. The car is powered by a very mild build 440 ( if you can call 11 to 1 compression mild ) Just enough cam in it to tell its not stock . Flowing thru stock exhaust all the way to NOS chrome tips under the rear bumper. Front suspension is mostly stock. Albeit all powder coated and new wear items. Its has been converted to power front disc brakes. A McLeod diaphragm clutch so its easy on the left leg at stop lights. Updated to a 3.5" chrome moly driveshaft. and the aforementioned 4.10 Dana . So the car should should more than hold its own on the streets of northern Dayton Ohio . Interior was originally black , but we decided the white looked so much better with the original EE1 dark blue metallic. Which is a rather rare color in its own right . The original Am radio is now modern internals to play AM/FM and a USB port to be able to connect to his I phone or Laptop for those long drives . And he fully intends to drive the snot out of it .

Agreed, Drag cars from 1966 are vastly different than drag cars from 2016

Well, After far to long of it taking up space in my garage . The owner picked it up yesterday afternoon. Soon to be terrorizing the streets around Dayton Ohio. This car was REALLY rough when I started. Its basically had the entire back half of it replaced with new sheet metal. Both fenders , both doors , parts of the firewall, parts of the floor pan and the entire upper cowl and lower cowl panels have been replaced or repaired. Its an original 4 speed Charger RT , repainted in its original EE1 Dark Blue poly . Mild build on a 1968 440 , has the correct Hemi 4 speed transmission and a 4.10 Dana is under it as well . Built to look reasonably close to stock to 90% of the viewing public. But its NOT an OE replica stock build. Its his play toy I restore cars for a living , although more like part time now though ( Used to do it full time in my own shop )

Paint primary base color. once dry mask it off for the flames. Spray a pearl clear . Remove mask and clear the entire body. ...viola. ghost flames.
-
I think MOST of them can be had from a couple different sheets / suppliers. EXCEPT ------ The Bob Lambeck and the Pepsi logo will be the problem. I dont know of any source for them As an FYI, I dont believe Dick Landy ever drove this car. I'm pretty sure It was always a hired gun driver.

I plan to get several of these. One will be this Landy car.

Odd EBay question?

Or its someone spamming for your email address ( I get the same stupid questions with Craigslist listings ) I delete them and move on -
Nice work, Ive been looking at these kits on ebay. Might actually pull the trigger on one yet . These are about the only Ferrari cars I care much for.

I figured it had to be something simple. I'll have to consider it sooner than later. There are more and more kits I want to build and the colors I want are not avail in rattle cans But for the price of the HF ones I can use it and drop it in the trash once I'm done with it. I might dive deeper into one when retirement comes in the next few years and Ive got more modeling bench time on my hands. -

One of my favorite kits ( I have maybe 2 dozen of them stashed away in various liverys. Just an fyi. the top moulding of the grille is supposed to be attach the leading edge of the hood. -
VERY nice, I want one of these . but there's always something else that catches my eye when my toy fund actually has funds in it

Any Documented '71 Hemi Baracuda?
gtx6970 replied to afx's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Correct. MOST Pro Stock Cudas started life as a 1970 Body in white. If you'll notice most didn't even have side markers The early version of Sox and Martins 1971 , even still retained the 70 hood scoop -

Thats one expensive garage ornament. A real 71 Cuda vert, ( no matter what engine) is not going to be cheap -

Ive been toying with the idea to look into airbrushes for paints not avail in rattle cans - I just took a look at the Badger 350. In all honesty it doesn't look ANY different than my Harbor Freight one for $10. No more than I use it, I can use it and toss in the trash once done. In all honesty I dont use it more than 3 times in a 5 year span what gives ?
