  1. Yes. Not a big deal though. I'm still on my first roll and have plenty more.
  2. Go get some Glad Press and Seal. Remove the cap and clean the lid and bottle top. Cut a small piece of the Press and Seal and cover the opening. Screw the cap back on. You'll never have a problem with stuck lids again.
  3. Love it! Can't wait to see the finish. What color?
  4. Yeah, even my wife likes to go in with me and look around.
  5. I use this a lot. Took the rubber suction thing off the bottom and mounted it to a 2x6. http://www.harborfreight.com/2-3-4-quarter-inch-articulated-vacuum-vise-3311.html
  6. BTW, if you buy models at Hobby Lobby, be sure to go online and sign up for their newsletter which includes a 40% off coupon every week.
  7. I've heard of using a pencil eraser and almost dry paint and blotting the letters. Does anyone have any other techniques they use to paint letters and insignia on tire sidewalls?
  8. You did a great job! Gotta get one!
  9. Get a Paasche H with the #3 or #5 tip.
  10. Everyone has an opinion on airbrushes. I started with a Badger Patrior 105. Retails for over $100 but I got it for $45. I figured it must be THE airbrush for me. I had moderate success with it. After much reading I bought a Paasche H siphon feed and love it. Simple, easy to clean and inexpensive and works great.

I can't afford to buy my wife a 1 : 1 so I built her a scale model. She picked the color and wheels. Still learning on the BMF.
  12. I use this stuff when I want a flat finish. I spray all my frames, floor pans, suspension pieces. etc. with craft acrylics. Cheap and looks decent. http://www.hobbylobby.com/Art-Supplies/Painting-Supplies/Acrylic-Painting/Liquitex-Matte-Varnish/p/10518
  13. Post it, Steve! What brand?
  14. You'll probably need to thin your paint. Practice on some old bodies or spray a plastic for sale sign.
  15. I'm following with interest, Jim. I've tried using home made BMF with mixed results. The foil I used was chrome wrapping paper from Party City. Enough to last a life time for $5. It worked fairly well but the only thing I wasn't happy about was the adhesive I used. Here's what I used: http://www.hobbylobby.com/p/6272 It had a little too much sticky to it. Maybe I used too much but it was tough to get it off the areas adjacent to the chrome. Pulled some paint loose in one area.
  16. Here's a couple more: http://www.modelcartips.com/photograph-model-car.html http://www.italianhorses.net/Tutorials/Photo Booth/photobooth.htm
  17. Here's a few I've bookmarked:
  18. Got one in the stash. I hope it turns out as nice as yours.

  20. You'll need to buy a can of Model Master or Testors gloss clear to go over the red.
  21. Yeah, Tamiya kits are great but even they can be difficult. I use a small vise I got from Harbor Freight to hold things like wings while assembling. http://www.harborfreight.com/2-3-4-quarter-inch-articulated-vacuum-vise-3311.html I removed the vacuum part of the base and mounted it to a short 2 x 6.
  22. I think you did a great job. I build F1 cars and can sympathize with you frustration over the rear wing assembly. They can be a real pain in the drain. When possible, I like to assemble and then paint.
  23. A 12' x 24' room in my basement.
