Rocking Rodney Rat Posted August 18, 2018 Posted August 18, 2018 Howdy campers...I finished this one up about a month ago and just got around to taking some (crappy, sorry) pix of my latest build.... -Body is from the Revell '27 T Touring kit, shortened about an inch to make a "Shorty T". It's painted Testors 'One-Hit' Icy Blue. -Engine is from various kits, block from the AMT '41 Willys Woody Wagon with heads from a Revell kit, headers and frog mouth scoops from Replicas and Miniatures, other parts from the parts box. -Frame is scratch built from Evergreen pieces. Spartan interior, bench seat hacked out of an AMT interior tub of unknown origin, scratch built fuel tank... -Tires from Modelhaus (RIP), wheels from Reps and Mins aftermarket chrome plated. Thanks for looking..... -RRR
Snake45 Posted August 18, 2018 Posted August 18, 2018 Different and therefore interesting. I like what you did with the body. I don't think I've ever seen two Testor Icy Blue paint jobs that look the same. The can I have looks like it's going to produce a much lighter color, and much "flakier" as well (from spoon test shots).
TooOld Posted August 18, 2018 Posted August 18, 2018 Superb job , it looks so much better shortened !
espo Posted August 18, 2018 Posted August 18, 2018 Very nicely engineered. I hope the driver doesn't smoke. You built it with the parts you had laying around much like someone would have years ago. I like how you detailed the engine. I remember distributor conversions for the early flat Heads like you used.

If you lay it on too heavy it will get darker and it's easy to get lighter and darker patches if you're not careful. I was having trouble getting my i-phone camera to co-operate today so the color might not have come out so well in the pix. I should have set up outside but it was too hot and threatening rain..... -RRR
bobthehobbyguy Posted August 18, 2018 Posted August 18, 2018 Very cool. Love it. A really sweet little rod.

alan barton Posted August 19, 2018 Posted August 19, 2018 (edited) Rodney, you nailed the proportions and stance on this one and I do like the way the colour scheme flows right throughout the car. Strikes me as a perfect contender for about a 1963 Car Craft feature article! Cheers Alan Edited August 19, 2018 by alan barton Spelling

I was painting it during our Independence Day (Fourth of July) celebration time and got into the spirit with a red, white and blue colo(u)r scheme.... -RRR Edited October 31, 2018 by Rocking Rodney Rat
Dennis Lacy Posted August 20, 2018 Posted August 20, 2018 Looks like it could be on the floor of any early 60's Autorama show! Reminds me of the Tweedy Pie in its original flathead powered configuration before Roth got a hold of it. I really, really like it! Especially how the quick change center pokes out of the body!!!
Phirewriter Posted August 20, 2018 Posted August 20, 2018 Very cool! Hits all the right details for my favourite (late 50's/early 60's) era of rods and customs. Colour and body mods look great!
1930fordpickup Posted August 20, 2018 Posted August 20, 2018 This sure looks the part through my eyes.
geewhiz Posted August 20, 2018 Posted August 20, 2018 Very kool hot rod!!! I love the proportions and the way it's all come together!!!??
misterNNL Posted August 20, 2018 Posted August 20, 2018 This is built the way original rods were built, from whatever the builder could find and afford rather than ordering up what is needed from a website with a whatever it takes blank check approach. Thanks for sharing.
Matt T. Posted August 21, 2018 Posted August 21, 2018 Gorgeous little hot rod! Love the look. Well done.
Mr.Zombie Posted August 21, 2018 Posted August 21, 2018 More than the model itself I like the idea for a car like that. Never seen a tube shotrened this way. How awesome is that? This is a car I’d like to own in real!
