bill lanfear Posted June 19, 2019 Posted June 19, 2019 Well it is finally finished! Started with the Revell 65 Chevy step side. I used the cab, hood, firewall, seat and door panels, suspensions and parts of the frame, windshield and a few little do dads from the kit. I fabricated from scratch or on a computer and printed the following: Front turn signals, grill and letters, 305 V6 engine, V6 emblems on the hood, mirrors, dash board, rear small window insert, toolbox, entire bed, rear bumper, and 6 lug rims. Other mods include lengthening the frame, new pedal braces, emergency brake lever, steering wheel, raised the seat and made a seat cover, made a shifter, cb radio, antennas, and tailgate chains/ brackets. I am happy with it for the most part. Its not my best work but overall not bad. I go back in and redo the wipers as I dont like how they look. Most of you know I will offer the parts once I get a website put together. My focus right now is getting the 67-69 Ford grills finished and out to market. If you can't wait, I can do some limited sales if you PM me. Thanks for looking and of course comments are welcome! 1
Lordmodelbuilder Posted June 20, 2019 Posted June 20, 2019 Great job on this one. Really like how it turned out.
89AKurt Posted June 20, 2019 Posted June 20, 2019 Very nice weathering, and detail work. The wipers look fine, but you think they need to be less beefy?
TarheelRick Posted June 20, 2019 Posted June 20, 2019 Mighty fine looking old warhorse. Really like the weathering, makes it look well worked.
Scalper Posted June 20, 2019 Posted June 20, 2019 Great Weathering. Very realistic. Nice work. save for my work desktop
kilrathy10 Posted June 20, 2019 Posted June 20, 2019 Oh, that is too cool... Excellent work, my friend... All the little subtleties make it such a nice thing to look at.... Very nice work....
Scott Vinton Posted June 20, 2019 Posted June 20, 2019 Outstanding! If I may ask, how did you do the seats? I was hoping to do something similar in a truck I am building.

I scaled some patterns on photoshop and just printed it out on regular paper, sprayed some glue on after sanding the seat and then applied it in two pieces. If I were to do it again I would figure out how to get the paper a little more wet to better lay around the bends but be careful! too wet and the ink runs. More spray glue might do it. I painted the edges with black to seal them and then dry rubbed some dirt powder to give it the "dirty used" look. Its simple but effective. I thought about decals but not sure how they would turn out. This method is far easier for me. Maybe someone here has a better method????? I would be interested in hearing any ideas if they do as I am always looking for new ideas as well.

Wonderful and I'd be up for the GMC conversion parts once offered. I just created some seat covers. I was over thinking it but tried something simple. Design printed on ink jet printer, glued with Elmer's glue. It went on very well and adhered to all the curves on the rounded edges of cushions I created. Paper got wet enough to comply, but dry on the print side so there were no runs or other issues. I was very surprised!
