Chuck Most Posted July 21, 2019 Posted July 21, 2019 So, what do you do if you have a '78 Subaru BRAT that's too rusted out to restore? Well, I'd chop it down to a three-window coupe body, fab up a new chassis, and stick the engine out back with a VW transaxle. But maybe I'm weird like that...
89AKurt Posted July 21, 2019 Posted July 21, 2019 I like this very much! But I sure would add an air filter!
Cpt Tuttle Posted July 27, 2019 Posted July 27, 2019 Sick Subaru! I love builds full of imagination and joy like this one.
Chuck Most Posted December 13, 2020 Author Posted December 13, 2020 Just gave this one a slight revision. It has a reworked front end, cycle fenders, new "Rat" graphics, a rear bumper with mud flap brackets, and an air filter housing made from an old STP Oil can.
Steve H Posted December 13, 2020 Posted December 13, 2020 Hi Chuck, that is an awesome build! Very creative, and well executed. Cheers, Steve
Can-Con Posted December 13, 2020 Posted December 13, 2020 I'm really not a fan of rat rods but I got to admit, this is really cool ! ???
bisc63 Posted December 13, 2020 Posted December 13, 2020 Nice; and that is a cool shade of green. Mind sharing the paint color?
Oldcarfan27 Posted December 13, 2020 Posted December 13, 2020 That's a neat idea, a Subi on a VW pan. A Brat-Buggy. Just needs some paddle tires and a desolate place in the desert. That would be fun in real life! Very creative.
Rocking Rodney Rat Posted December 14, 2020 Posted December 14, 2020 Up to your usual creative style! I like it!! -RRR

I don't know now. ? I know it's Tamiya acrylic but I don't recall the exact shade. The wheels are cockpit green but I'm drawing a blank on the body.
e30lover Posted December 15, 2020 Posted December 15, 2020 Very interesting build! Love the idea AND originality. Which kit(s) did you based off of your build?

Erik Smith Posted December 16, 2020 Posted December 16, 2020 All right, that’s cool. I didn’t see this in ‘19, that I remember. I like the fender additions.
Dennis Lacy Posted December 17, 2020 Posted December 17, 2020 This is rad! Always enjoy your creativity. To look at a Subaru and envision something like this takes a special eye.
TooOld Posted December 17, 2020 Posted December 17, 2020 The best use of a Subaru Brat I've seen , very very nicely done !
Mr. Turbo Posted December 20, 2020 Posted December 20, 2020 Dat's one dope rat! Love your style. I think one could still pack a couple duffels in the front there.
