My builds for 2019

For the last three years I've averaged about one model completed every other month, this year was no different.

Here are my six builds for 2019.

This is AMT's 1971 Dodge Charger. I won this kit in the Desert Scale Classic raffle back in 2012 or 2013 if I remember correctly. I finally decided to build it as a companion to the 2013 Dodge Charger I built as a replica for my daily driver. I started this kit in January of 2018 and finished it in April with about 57 hours logged.

Another kit by AMT, this time it's their 1929 Ford Model A Roadster. This particular version of the kit has enough parts to build two complete models, this stock version and a full-on custom roadster or any combination of the two. I haven't built the second one yet and given the issues I had with this one, I'm not in any hurry to do so. I started this one in April and finished it in May with about 35 hours invested

This is the 1951 Chevy De Lux convertible, again by AMT. Since the color I chose for this car was not one of the factory colors available in 1951, I decided to build it as one of those famous Cuban classics that had been lovingly kept alive for the past six decades. It has Cuban license plates, a flag of Cuba window decal and an "I 2764.png❤️ Cuba" bumper sticker. I started this one in May and finished it in July with about 60 hours spent.

This is the 1940 Ford Early Modified kit from AMT. When I was around 12 years old, I bought one of these kits because I thought it was a really cool car- which it is. It was also way beyond my skill level at the time. As I began working on it as an adult, I quickly realized that this kit is probably beyond the skill level of most 12 year olds. I actually started this one in May of 2014 and had to put it back in the box due to frustration issues. I finally finished it in August of 2019 with about 60 hours put in- give or take forty years

This is the Alien Xenomorph designed by H. R. Giger and put into kit form by MPC. It's a rather simple kit with limited articulation and an awkward posture but it does yield a decent representation. This one was started in July and completed in September with only 24 hours to finish it.

This is the 1965 Chevy Malibu wagon by, yup you guessed it, AMT. This is the "Superwagon" version and can be built one of three ways: full drag race, race-crew wagon or as I chose to build it, stock. I also put some tools and a spare wheel in the cargo area and made a bag of groceries to put on the floor of the rear seat. Literally a "grocery getter". This one took 44 hours between September and November of 2019.

I hadn't realized that four of the five cars I completed this year are AMT kits. ?

Any way, thanks for taking the time to look and have a healthy and prosperous 2020!

Great work David!!

The '51 Chevy is as cool as all get out!!

Why I've never built one of those is beyond me.

Terriffic stuff!

Thanks Steve.

If you do build one, be aware that the three-piece inner fender and core support assembly is rather fiddly and frustrating.
