carl63_99 Posted February 20, 2020 Posted February 20, 2020 I built this Monogram 1/24 440 Six pack back in 1997. Probably about 10 years ago I put new tires on it, that would be pic A. Two years ago, got these awesome wheels and tires from the Testors Daytona and put them on, pic B. One of the wheels fell off yesterday and I kinda went a little crazy. I dropped both front and rear axles about 2 mm so it wouldn't ride so high. After a waxing, she's going back on the shelf.
StevenGuthmiller Posted February 20, 2020 Posted February 20, 2020 I think you made the right decision. It gives it a much more muscular look. Maybe it's just me, but I always thought the daisy wheels looked a little too "feminine" for a muscle car. Steve
cobraman Posted February 20, 2020 Posted February 20, 2020 Very sharp. I actually like both versions.
Bucky Posted February 21, 2020 Posted February 21, 2020 It looked good in pic A, but the new wheels, and dropping the stance makes look more like a SuperBee ought to, IMHO. Good move!!
Snake45 Posted February 21, 2020 Posted February 21, 2020 B, definitely. And it would look even better if you painted the wheel spokes matte black or steel gray.
lordorion1974 Posted February 21, 2020 Posted February 21, 2020 Definitely B. Like others have said, it looks more like a muscle car should. Love the color, you don't see it often so that's what draws my eye. More so than the typical red/black cars.
Bainford Posted February 21, 2020 Posted February 21, 2020 Pic A misses the mark entirely. Pic B is much, much better, but the chrome has got to be toned down.
espo Posted February 21, 2020 Posted February 21, 2020 I guess I'm in the B group. My thought is the stance has as much to do with it also.
Painted Black Posted February 21, 2020 Posted February 21, 2020 Those daisies are way out of scale, would look better with the correct daisies IMO, but what ever, its sharp!!

TooOld Posted February 22, 2020 Posted February 22, 2020 100% improvement with the new wheels/tires and lowered ride height ! I agree with Snake that a little color on the wheels would make a difference .
carl63_99 Posted February 22, 2020 Author Posted February 22, 2020 I like the look of the all-chrome, no flat color on the spokes. I also have used American Racing type wheels on a few projects. I found my Vallejo black wash and did the wheel hubs. Result posted. Now to try and leave this model alone for a few years. It is 23 years old, finished in 1997. Maybe next time I disassemble it completely and redo the interior and drop a Vipe V10 in... Maybe...
Bills72sj Posted February 24, 2020 Posted February 24, 2020 The corrected stance has a big impact. I did the change my mind on the wheels too on another build. http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/topic/147210-1970-aar-340-6-cuda-in-panther-pink/?tab=comments#comment-2162054

NYLIBUD Posted February 29, 2020 Posted February 29, 2020 I’d have to say the second photo.I never really liked old cars with new aftermarket wheels.
