Plowboy Posted June 21, 2020 Posted June 21, 2020 Nice looking '40 Phil! You don't see the the convertibles done very often. It's cool to see one done as a custom. Nice work!
mr moto Posted June 21, 2020 Posted June 21, 2020 I just love this and thanks for giving full details.
Misha Posted June 21, 2020 Posted June 21, 2020 Nice work Phil! Really like the look of the body mods with the 37 headlights. The P/E grill is perfect, especially on the shot with the hood up. Congrats on a fine build! Cheers Misha
Spottedlaurel Posted June 21, 2020 Posted June 21, 2020 That sounds like a lot of work, it's come out really well.
espo Posted June 21, 2020 Posted June 21, 2020 Your list of modifications and extra parts used really helps understand what all went into this build. This is beautifully done as seen at first glance, but without the information provided it would be hard to fully appreciate what all you have done.

Originally I was going to use the '39 headlights from the AMT Sedan but the '37's are so much nicer. I have always been impressed with the photo-etch details from Model Car Garage. They can add so much realism to a model. 12 hours ago, Spottedlaurel said: That sounds like a lot of work, it's come out really well. Thanks Nigel. I thought it was going to more work than it actually was and I am pleased how it turned out. 7 hours ago, ChrisR said: Looks great! Thanks David - I really like this format of listing the details which was used by the Rodder's Journal for a number of years.

Grumpa Posted July 21, 2020 Posted July 21, 2020 Oh Yea Phil! I think I'll end my night with this one. You can't beat a '40 with a chop, a Carson top, wide whites, and Sombrero's. No sir...you can't beat it! Good Night!
Steve H Posted July 21, 2020 Posted July 21, 2020 Beautiful build Phil. Your body work is always tasteful and very well executed. Love the colour choice too, and I agree with Misha, that grill is awesome.
larman Posted July 21, 2020 Posted July 21, 2020 Another awesome job! That top looks great! Has that early California look!
alan barton Posted July 23, 2020 Posted July 23, 2020 A beautiful period correct custom, Phil, and oh boy, how good do those sombreros look? This is a magnificent model. Cheers Alan
Dennis Lacy Posted July 23, 2020 Posted July 23, 2020 Somehow I missed this model last month so I’m really glad it got bumped back to the first page. Excellent work on this, Phil! The sectioned body and chopped, padded top scream Valley Custom. Love the color and standard grill conversion with ‘39 headlights.
echo Posted July 24, 2020 Posted July 24, 2020 It's a nice tribute to Valley Customs, that shop had a unique style and you did a nice job on the model, it looks great, it represents a lot of work on your part.
