- 1940 Standard front fenders and hood

- Hood nosed and sectioned a scale 4 inches Model Car Garage ’39 Grill with ’40 Ford vertical center trim

- ’37 Ford headlights

- Body channelled a scale 4 inches then a 4 inch strip sectioned from bottom of body sides

- Cowl sides sectioned a scale 4 inches below the belt-line

- Rear fenders molded higher on the body

- Body decked and shaved

- Windshield frame and roof chopped a scale 4 inches

- Wheelwells radiused

INTERIOR

- Sectioned scale 4 inches

- Real white leather on seats

- Model Car Garage photo-etch dashboard details

RUNNING GEAR

- Dropped front axle

- Flattened rear cross-member

- Stock rear end

- Drum brakes

- Tube shocks

- C’d frame at rear

- Wheels, white wall tires and Cadillac hubcaps from Revell ’49 Merc

ENGINE

- Flathead with kit chrome hop up parts

- Dual exhausts with aluminum tips

PAINT

- Model Master Burgundy Red Metallic Enamel

Nice work Phil! Really like the look of the body mods with the 37 headlights. The P/E grill is perfect, especially on the shot with the hood up. Congrats on a fine build!

Your list of modifications and extra parts used really helps understand what all went into this build. This is beautifully done as seen at first glance, but without the information provided it would be hard to fully appreciate what all you have done.

Thanks Misha. Originally I was going to use the '39 headlights from the AMT Sedan but the '37's are so much nicer. I have always been impressed with the photo-etch details from Model Car Garage. They can add so much realism to a model.

Thanks David - I really like this format of listing the details which was used by the Rodder's Journal for a number of years.

Thanks Al - The "Carson" uptop  is actually the kit convertible soft-top that I chopped below the rear window and smoothed out a bit.

Somehow I missed this model last month so I’m really glad it got bumped back to the first page. Excellent work on this, Phil! The sectioned body and chopped, padded top scream Valley Custom. Love the color and standard grill conversion with ‘39 headlights.

It's a nice tribute to Valley Customs, that shop had a unique style and you did a nice job on the model, it looks great, it represents a lot of work on your part.
