Honestly, I miss the days where I  used to buy model kits at Kmart,

Remember   K Marts "Flashing Blue Light Specials" ?

they wheeled the cart over to the targeted department , plugged in the flashing blue light then came on the PA system -Attention K Mart Shoppers

New Jersey Kmart will close its doors this week leaving just three stores left across the US | Daily Mail Online

some times they did it in the toy department = 3 model kits for $5.00

( K Mart also had their own brand of model glue , manufactured by Testors for K Mart )

I am old enough to recall a time when my buddy and I would get on our bikes and head for the drug store.....to check out model kits. Next stop the hardware store to see if they got new kits. Then on to the grocery store.  The hobby shop was a little to far for bikes....so head to Pic and Save, they had a huge wall of all kinds of models. K Mart and then back home.

My points is I think the hobby needs all the exposure it can get.  It will never be like the 1960's I described.....but any store selling kits is a good thing.

Yup… same old, same old as usual. It gets boring pretty fast.

I don’t go very often and that’s give them time to get a couple new kits in. Mine has the 67 Camaro and Porsche by Revell.  I may get one of the Porsche sometime..

Back on topic- I stopped in the Titusville, FL store today. They did some rearranging but it looks like the car/truck kit selection looks about the same. May hit up another HL in my travels tomorrow.

We don't see shops with models like this here in the UK!

Thritto? And building models for about 11 years at that point. I don't remember if Target had landed here yet or not. They took over the old Gemco locations, but I don't remember exactly when.

Dec '79 I was 9 and in 4th grade.  Had been building glue kits a couple of years by then...mostly AMT reissues, some MPC annuals, and a few Revell kits..got started w/ Monogram around that time..getting kits from K-Mart and other long gone NE Ohio stores (Harts, Rinks, Nichols, Conleys)...
