Hi all,

Years ago, SAE did an issue called “Tubs”. It was an entire issue dedicated to pro street, still one of my favourite issues to flip thru. There was a pro street Mini Cooper that was extremely cool. I always wanted to do a similar build, the Fiat seemed a good choice. Anywhooooo...

So, I started with the Fujimi kit, and kit bashed it with a Dobberton J2000 chassis.
The chassis was widened and shortened to fit the Fiat body. The motor is a V6 from a Buick GN, with the twin blower set up from the Baretta pro street.

The Fiat interior was modified to fit the chassis. There are parts box items, including wheels, steering wheel etc.

Everything was a tight fit, but Went together fairly well. Paint is Tamiya

Thanks for looking, all comments welcome

Very cool build!!     .....think you're being a bit modest w/ the term "tight"

Very cool build! Haven’t seen anything like this before!

I am a fan of the new Fiats. My daughter bought a new convertible when they first came out.  Has over 140,000 commuter miles on it with zero trouble.

Beautiful looking build and the engineering to get everything inside the body is amazing. I like the picture of the engine that also shows part of the front suspension and the front tires.

And the Understatement of the Year award, 2020, goes to Steve H for the following

  • "Everything was a tight fit but".....

What I really like about this model is it looks like it would work.  There aren't gaping holes or oversized flares all over the place.  We will never if it wold work in the real world ( or maybe we will?) but if I saw this at a car event I would say "Good job!"

Quality work Steve, love it!

Thanks Alan!  I am not a mechanic, and some of my builds are not “mechanically correct”, but I always try to make them with some degree of “it would work in real life”.

Hi Steve!

The key word here is "tight". A lady on my street has one (stock, of course), and just looking at it reminds me of the packaging job you faced. Bravo!

Hi Claude,  thanks for looking. This one was fun, there was a fair bit of head scratching, hmmmmm.... how am I gonna fit all this stuff in that?

Cheers, Steve

Thank you all for the kind words. I really like these little cars. I always thought they had a bit of attitude for a small car. So I wanted to give one a bunch more attitude. I rarely name my builds, but this one I called “Fi-attitude”

Thanks for looking, Steve

WOW Steve!  This is another unusual (and to say the least ...) body for drag racing!   I wouldn't want for all the gold in the world to be sitting in the driver seat at 150mph (or more) after the quarter mile, certainly not easy to hold it between the two lines of the track!   It is cool and close to the ground... well done again my friend!!! ?

Francis, don’t be scared. It’s just a little V6! Ok, it’s blown and would probably have about500-600 HP....what could possibly go wrong? I’m sure the big firestone boots would help keep it pointed in the right direction.
Thanks for looking sir.
