TransAmMike
I'm putting these up for viewing. Pretty much OOB builds replicating 1:1 cars my wife and I owned. '57 Bel Air built as I had modified it back in the day. This was my very first car and was given to me by my Dad in 1964. The '68 VW Convertable is like the one that was my Wife first car. The other VW is just a model build of a kit I bought from Hobby Lobby for $10 because the box was torn open. '66 GTO, my Wifes second car. Actually her's was a convertable but since no '66 convertable kit this had to do. Two TransAms, '79 and '02. The '79 we bought new , the wheels are tumbler Torque Thrusts, the only mod I did to it on the real car. The '02 is like the one in my garage right now. '67 Corvette I wish I had owned. It is exactly as I would have wanted it. '40 Willys, just a cool car Edited January 3, 2021 by TransAmMike delete pic
Dennis Lacy
Any finished model is worth posting here. I dig the Willys. I also dig the '02 Trans Am. GM with the help of SLP really nailed the look of those cars. Way better looking than the sister Camaro. Years ago a friend had a silver '00 WS6 modified with headers, full exhaust, pulleys, Jet chip, 4.10 axle gears and Eibach springs. Sounded good. Ran good. Looked good. WS6 5-speed, no mods and all factory parts with the exception of new tires.
AMT68
Those are all fantastic Mike. I really like the '57 Chevy in that color combination and the '66 GTO with the vinyl top. Didn't realize there was a convertible version of the VW.
GeeBee
Very nice builds Mike, I only wish there were models available of the cars I've owned or grown up with.
alan barton
Gee you build a nice model, Mike. As a hot rodder I should like the Willys the most but that white 57 Chevy put a big smile on my face. That must have been so cool to drive back in the day. Cheers Alan
David G.
Though all of your builds are very well finished, I'd have to say that the '57 Chevy is my favorite among them. I don't recall ever seeing a model of one built in white. It brings out a certain classiness or elegance to the car's design. David G. TransAmMike
Thanks you to all that have commented. Brings a smile to my face, especially the reponse about the '57. Yep, that of course was a special car to me being my first. It has an interesting history in that it was originally bought by my Dad in Honolulu (he was career Army). He retired there after my graduation from HighSchool, it was shipped back to the Mainland and we drove it from San Francisco to New Orleans. He officially gave it to me then and of course I had to hot rod it. Converted it from Powerglide to 3-speed, had the engine rebuilt with performance stuff and of course street raced it a lot. Man, those were the days. Unfortunately, being a car that spent its early years in salt air atmosphere it succommed to severe rust and I sold it. 89AKurt
Yea, just finishing a model is a feat unto itself! Of course since I owned a '57 Chevy stationwagon, I like that one. They all came out nice. I had also built the Corvette, for a friend.

steveracer
Mike, beautiful work and awesome subject matter! You have owned some beautiful cars in your life, congratulations! Perhaps there is or can be a thread started, where people can post replicas of cars and trucks they have owned...you may have started something! Good idea Steve, I actually will have a few more replicas of former cars to complete in the future.
espo
Beautifully built. I like the story behind the ones you have owned. Building models of bygone vehicles that you regret selling is something many of use have enjoyed doing. Great clean looking builds.

slusher
The 57 Chevy and both Trans Ams grab my attention. I love Trans Ams! You did a great job on all your builds..
TransAmMike
Thanks again for the views and comments. Crazy enough, there were several more cars that I have owned that would (and will, one in progress and another not yet started) build but no kit is available. I spent waaaay too much money on 1:1's but it sure was fun?
