gseeds Posted January 18, 2021 Posted January 18, 2021 I’ve had in my stash for years but have never built, the Lil Coffin, wanting to get as close to the real car as I could I googled the car and found lots of pics of it ,built pretty box stock and adding no extra details , only thing I did change was the tires to the black wall rear slicks and thin white wall tires up front, didn’t really see any early 60’s pictures of the car with the wide white tires that are on the restored Lil Coffin except on model car boxes, did the interior as close to the early pics I found with gold and pearl white and the outside of the car was painted a gold base and a candy brandy wine with 4 coats of 2K clear , all and all a nice quick build taking about 2 weeks, not sure why I never built this before but now glad to have this in my show case ! Thanks for looking guys !!!
chepp Posted January 18, 2021 Posted January 18, 2021 That's a beautiful build. The paint is especially pleasing with just the right flake size for the color. 1
Spottedlaurel Posted January 18, 2021 Posted January 18, 2021 Fantastic! Your buid really brings out the interesting styling details. 1
alan barton Posted January 18, 2021 Posted January 18, 2021 (edited) Not often you get such a "just right" look out of such a "simple" build. No doubt the colour really brings it together. This has been on my list for a long time but hasn't popped to the top yet. I can only hope mine comes out as good as this! Cheers Alan Edited January 18, 2021 by alan barton 1
gbtr6 Posted January 19, 2021 Posted January 19, 2021 Really pretty, clean. Like the boat tail Riviera in the background. Perry 1
donb Posted January 20, 2021 Posted January 20, 2021 Sharp car Gary. Candy brandy wine is a favorite color. Nice work. 1
slusher Posted January 20, 2021 Posted January 20, 2021 Absolutely beautiful and one of the best looking ones I have seen built! 1
bisc63 Posted January 20, 2021 Posted January 20, 2021 Should be the box-art car if it's ever re-released! 1
1972coronet Posted January 20, 2021 Posted January 20, 2021 That's got to be thee finest example of that kit that I've ever seen ! I've been tempted to buy the Lil Coffin (and the 'Medicine Van' , or whatever its name is) if for nothing other than the included mascot whom I refer to as "Skip" . That DeSoto Firedome looks quite similar to the one in the AMT kits of yore (e.g. , the 1953 F-100 , etc.) Keep up the great work ! 1
Dennis Lacy Posted January 22, 2021 Posted January 22, 2021 That's as nice a Lil Coffin as I've ever seen! 1
Bills72sj Posted January 22, 2021 Posted January 22, 2021 Very nice. I built one as a kid. I have one on my wishlist. 1
