cobraman Posted May 30, 2021 Posted May 30, 2021 Started with the Monogram kit . As I wrote in my WIP the car was not always the same color . Research shows it was at times black , purple , maroon and gray . I saw an episode where Wally tells Beaver they painted the car gray . Found the picture you will see and although black and white it sure looks like a dull gray to me . And that is the photo I used as my guide . Simple Tamiya primer body . Never found any info on interior color and photos I found show it sometimes a light color and sometimes a dark color . I chose a brown Krylon Short Cuts color . Trim is Molotow pen . Aluminum tail pipes .
NOBLNG Posted May 31, 2021 Posted May 31, 2021 Well done, but you forgot to smash the front bumper in like the photo.?
cobraman Posted May 31, 2021 Author Posted May 31, 2021 Thanks, this was pre smash. Never noticed that to be honest.
espo Posted May 31, 2021 Posted May 31, 2021 Looks great and just like the picture, save the bumper, I wouldn't dent it at this point since it looks to good like this.
alan barton Posted May 31, 2021 Posted May 31, 2021 One of your best ever, Ray. I wouldn't change a thing! Such a beautiful build of a beautiful kit. Cheers Alan
thatz4u Posted May 31, 2021 Posted May 31, 2021 well done, you forgot the candy bar wrappers & empty soda bottles in the rear floor....LOL
cobraman Posted June 1, 2021 Author Posted June 1, 2021 Thanks Al and Alan. Lumpy had a date so he had cleaned out the car !
peteski Posted June 1, 2021 Posted June 1, 2021 Great idea for a model! Very cool! How about modeling other cars from the series? For example the car Beaver accidentally rolled out of the driveway, then he got a citation from a cop? I think it was a Chrysler.
plasticprime Posted June 1, 2021 Posted June 1, 2021 Very nice build! You can almost hear Fred Rutherford yelling at Clarence to "Get that hunk of junk out of my driveway!" Fathers are like that - even some TV ones just don't seem to understand.
Jim B Posted June 1, 2021 Posted June 1, 2021 Nicely done. For a minute there I thought that you might have painted it in black & white to match the TV show. Then I realized that they were black & white photos.
TooOld Posted June 1, 2021 Posted June 1, 2021 It's so simple and understated that it looks fantastic , great job Ray ! Never been a big fan of '40 Fords but I may build one of these for my very own .
peteski Posted June 2, 2021 Posted June 2, 2021 13 hours ago, cobraman said: Thanks guys. Hummm maybe Wallys old Chevy ? Yeah, that would be good!
cobraman Posted June 2, 2021 Author Posted June 2, 2021 Wally's Chevy was a 53. I don't believe there is a 53 kit ??
