Mike C. Posted February 8, 2022 Posted February 8, 2022 For me it had to be The Hoodoo Gurus (from Australia) at the Fast Lane (a dive club in Asbury Park NJ). They absolutely tore the roof off the place. At one point the frontman was pleading with the audience to cool down. This was the stage diving era. Another great one was Echo and the Bunnymen at Rutgers basketball auditorium .Ray Manzarek was touring with them and was on keyboards. A rumor was circulating around the arena that they were going to be in this club we always went to nearby after the show. We waited but nobody could get within 20 feet of Ray. He was mobbed. Another was The Pixies (original lineup) opened for Love and Rockets at Villanova. Another time Was the Replacements at the Tower Theater in Philly. We went to a place called Brownies pub after the show and drank with them at the bar. There was a local band playing and Westerberg grabbed their bass and started to play round and round (by Chuck Berry) I just happend to be standing next to him so I just started to sing into the microphone with him. 2 of my friends were on another hot mic. There are a million similar stories like this one over the years with them. I wish we had camera phones back then like everyone does today.
4mula1fan Posted February 8, 2022 Posted February 8, 2022 Without a doubt, with no hesitation, Rush at Municipal Auditorium in Nashville. I still get chills. The worst was Fleetwood Mac. They were so wasted they could hardly talk.
TonyK Posted February 8, 2022 Posted February 8, 2022 Hard to pick one but went to several Yes concerts and they were all great. But one stands out because many friends of mine had never seen them and they all agreed to go with me the next time they were here and they all said it was the greatest concert they had been to. This was in the 70's. That made me feel pretty good that they were not disappointed.

stinkybritches Posted February 8, 2022 Posted February 8, 2022 Queensryche with Suicidal Tendencies 1991. Building Empires Tour. They played their album Operation Mindcrime in its entirety. Ozzfest '97, '99, '00, '01, and '03
DPNM Posted February 8, 2022 Posted February 8, 2022 Alice Cooper...Billion Dollar Babies Alice Cooper...Killer Pink Floyd in 1988 and 1994 1
stavanzer Posted February 8, 2022 Posted February 8, 2022 Wicked Tinkers, about 10 years ago, at the Scottish Festival.
Mike 1017 Posted February 8, 2022 Posted February 8, 2022 The Who. Thier very first Chicago concert at The Chicago Stadium. The whole mezzanine was shaking. ,rocking and rolling. I think tickets were no more than $20.00 Mike 1
Rob Hall Posted February 8, 2022 Posted February 8, 2022 My first two concerts in high school were pretty good..Van Halen 1984 tour and U2 The Joshua Tree 1987 (seen them probably 25 times since then). Other memorable shows include— Pink Floyd in 1994 was great, as was David Gilmour in 2004..U2 with Pearl Jam in Hawaii in 2006 was great. Prince in 2004, Peter Gabriel in 2005, Queen + Paul Rogers around 2003, The Rolling Stones in 2005, The Who in 2007, Bruce Springsteen 1/2 dozen times between 2001 and 2015… Most recent show I went to was Genesis a few months ago, great show on their final tour.
Andrew McD Posted February 8, 2022 Posted February 8, 2022 It’s a toss up between Woodstock (my very first concert), and Jimi Hendrix, The Steve Miller Band, Cactus, and The Grateful Dead at Temple Stadium. 1
Miatatom Posted February 8, 2022 Posted February 8, 2022 Several for me. Most memorable AC/DC on October 2, 1979. Bon Scott would be dead 4 months later. I attribute about 90% of my hearing loss to that band, my favorite still. Best light show Blue Oyster Cult. The drummers kit was mounted on a platform and rotated verrtically. How he could play upside down with the platform spinning is still a mystery to me. Best recovery from a wasted start Joe Walsh. He was so wasted that the crowd boooed him big time. He straightened up and finished a great show. County Fair and Turn To Stone were awesome. Most accurate sound of their recordings Little River Band And I'll speak for a friend that has since passed, Led Zeppelin at a small club in Germany when he was in the Army. Probably less than 100 people there. 1

BlackSheep214 Posted February 9, 2022 Posted February 9, 2022 I’ve been to so many concerts over the years but two stuck out as my favorites. Bryan Adams Reckless Tour at Madison Square Garden. A JC Penney I employed at the time along with WOUR, a local radio station sponsored a drawing to see him live in NYC. I stuffed the ballot boxes while on the job and and won a pair of tickets. I later found out another JCP employee also stuffed the ballot boxes too and won. LOL! Wanted to take a fellow female friend from JCP but was forced to take my sister instead. We all went by limousine. Didn’t return til the next morning just in time for me to head to work. Billy Joel at the Carrier Dome. Early 2000s. All tickets were $40 / person. 1

I'd been working part time as an apprentice photog for the Atlanta Journal and Constitution. They had tickets waiting for me at the gate, though I hadn't expected front row. 1972coronet Posted February 9, 2022 Posted February 9, 2022 Benson & Hedges Blues Festival on Saturday, 9th June 1990 at the Pacific Amphitheatre. John Lee Hooker. Stevie Ray Vaughn (one of his last performances). Joe Cocker. Cab Calloway. Dr. John... countless others. Seven hours of pure delight! Oddly (or not), across The Pond, Cabaret Voltaire was playing at The Lyceum (don't know which one), and the entire performance was recorded.
forthlin Posted February 9, 2022 Posted February 9, 2022 It's hard to pick one. My Mom took my brother & me to see the Rolling Stones for my 11nth birthday in Nov. 1964. I remember the police were lined up across the front of the stage & the screaming was so loud you could barely hear them. I also saw the Who in late 1967 during there instrument destroying days. I couldn't hear right for days afterwards they were so loud. My Wife & I saw Paul McCartney in Indianapolis in Feb. 1990 & I'm a big Beatles fan. 2
Muncie Posted February 9, 2022 Posted February 9, 2022 (edited) Several memorable shows but let's go for this one that I heard but didn't really see. It was after a couple of recent unsuccessful attempts at Mt Hood twenty years ago. I was looking for a hike and the one mile trail from Timberline Lodge to Silcox Hut at 7,000 feet seemed like a way to check Mt Hood off my list in a good way. Beautiful sunny summer day. One side of the parking lot was empty, the other side was full of Harley's for a Harley Owners Group event. I make my hike and start the return down the mountain. I begin hearing blues about halfway down the trail. Very, very good blues. Jimmy Ray Vaughn blues, but he passed away several years before. It was JR Simms (learned later that JR Simms had finished SRV's last tour). I found a bench in the trees on a trail behind Timberline Lodge, sat down and enjoyed the show happening on the other side of the lodge. It made all of the Mt Hood efforts worthwhile. DrKerry Posted February 9, 2022 Posted February 9, 2022 ZZ Top Afterburner tour Any Cheap Trick concert... LOL Been to 14 of them....
hedotwo Posted February 9, 2022 Posted February 9, 2022 The Doors at the Dane County Memorial Coliseum in November '68. To say there was a cloud of "smoke" obscuring the upper half of the arena wasn't a fabrication ?. At 16 years old this was a milestone for me. 1
paul alflen Posted February 9, 2022 Posted February 9, 2022 Foghat, Aerosmith, and Ted Nugent, Pontiac Silverdome , Summer of 1976, Loud for this 16 year old!!!! The concert was sold out! They opened up tickets for the upper bowl behind the stage! 1
