mr moto Posted January 6, 2023 Posted January 6, 2023 I have no good excuse for building this. Just one of those crazy ideas. It's a kit bash of an SMP 1961 Corvair and a Lindberg 1959 Owen Deluxe Cruiser. The motor started out as one of the 1959 Evinrude Starflite 50's from the boat kit but I decided it needed some remodeling to look more realistic. While I was remodeling I went ahead and updated it to a 1960 Starflite 75. Got 25 extra horses from just a little bit of styrene and paint! Enjoy. 23
espo Posted January 6, 2023 Posted January 6, 2023 This has to be one of the best conversions I have ever seen. The haul is correct looking, and the engine looks very realistic. Like the custom interior.
Dragline Posted January 6, 2023 Posted January 6, 2023 I am sure Nader would find something wrong with it. I however, cannot. Great conversion
Phildaupho Posted January 6, 2023 Posted January 6, 2023 Absolutely far-out and exceptionally well done.
Steve H Posted January 6, 2023 Posted January 6, 2023 This is super cool! Very well executed and detailed, love the controls. ??
TooOld Posted January 6, 2023 Posted January 6, 2023 No excuse needed . . . it's just plain cool ! Great conversion , I want a real one !
von Zipper Posted January 6, 2023 Posted January 6, 2023 The port/starboard headlights are a neat touch !!!
Bruce Scully Posted January 6, 2023 Posted January 6, 2023 A lot of great imagination and building skills , looks great , well done .
Gramps46 Posted January 6, 2023 Posted January 6, 2023 As a former Corvair owner I just love it. Exceptional execution.
rrb124@sbcglobal.net Posted January 7, 2023 Posted January 7, 2023 Wow! What in the world. Good looking.
FatboyLowrider Posted January 7, 2023 Posted January 7, 2023 Wow, now this is incredible! What a neat build. I can see me now crusin out in the bay with a corvair powered by evinrude haha!! So neat, also love that wheel.
Howard Cohen Posted January 7, 2023 Posted January 7, 2023 That is an excellent idea and build! How does it handle in the Bayou?
alan barton Posted January 7, 2023 Posted January 7, 2023 So cool- who would have thought that the blunt frontend of a Corvair could work as a boat - genius! We are definitely on the same page regarding boat names - my 57 Chevy boat is called the Bel- Aqua! This is a truly beautiful boat and deserves to go here - it has become the marina of Model Cars Forum and gives speedboat enthusiasts the chance to see dozens of different builds in one place. Cheers Alan
BuilderX Posted January 7, 2023 Posted January 7, 2023 Plastastic idea for a Corvair!! Looks so Kool!
