Mothersworry Posted February 16, 2023 Posted February 16, 2023 Kinda rare 1/32 scale Revell/AMT 1955 Chrysler New Yorker Deluxe St. Regis circa 1954. Finished to match the box art. Built from a mint original kit given to me by Son which he bought at a Flea market fer a coupla bucks. The chrome is original, the body is painted with Tamiya paints and the trim is BMF foil and Molotow chrome brushed on. The driver figure has been modified, originally he wuz signaling a left turn with his arm out the window so I changed his arm to holding the bottom of the steering wheel. No clear parts, models from this era didn't have "glass" Multi piece body wuz lotsa fun to put together, and the ancient plastic didn't get along well with modern liquid cement, used lotsa epoxy. 22
stavanzer Posted February 16, 2023 Posted February 16, 2023 Wow! Clean Modern Paint and Building Techniques can make even an old kit pop, in the hands of a skilled Artisan! You , Sir, knocked that out of the park!
Joe Nunes Posted February 16, 2023 Posted February 16, 2023 A very nice looking model you have shared with us. The color combination is classy. Well done! ? Joe
Claude Thibodeau Posted February 16, 2023 Posted February 16, 2023 Hi! A true time capsule, nicely finished. Bravo! CT
espo Posted February 16, 2023 Posted February 16, 2023 Great looking paint finishes and the body chrome trim as well. I remember building this and a few of the others that Revell offered at the time.
larman Posted February 16, 2023 Posted February 16, 2023 Beautiful work! Your careful building took a basic kit to an extraordinary level!
Tcoat Posted February 16, 2023 Posted February 16, 2023 You could have modernized the driver by reworking his fingers, leaving his hand out the window but not signaling a left turn! It is a New Yorker after all. 1
Anglia105E Posted February 16, 2023 Posted February 16, 2023 I really like to see an old kit that has been built and painted so well . . . At first glance, I thought that this must be a 1:25 scale kit, but no it is 1:32 You mentioned that the old plastic did not like the modern cement, and no clear plastic window parts ! Well done . . . you have done a marvellous job on this one. The cream coloured background to the photos works well also. I do like 1950's American cars in particular. David
bh1701 Posted February 17, 2023 Posted February 17, 2023 An awful lot of good detail on a 1/32nd scale model. Great work!
KMcc Posted February 17, 2023 Posted February 17, 2023 Stunning model! Especially at that scale. Reminds me of 'Driving Miss Daisy' Seriously, the skills I see on this forum is impressive and inspirational.
Dragline Posted February 17, 2023 Posted February 17, 2023 Geez aloo! That kit has never looked better than that. A triumph Sir!
TooOld Posted February 17, 2023 Posted February 17, 2023 Beautiful work , that kit has never looked so nice !
89AKurt Posted February 18, 2023 Posted February 18, 2023 Awesome result! Must have used half a sheet of Bare Metal foil.
Dave Darby Posted February 19, 2023 Posted February 19, 2023 I'm a fan. And yeah, those old Revell multi-piece body kits are under-rated. Not sure how much of a fight that body put up, but you definitely slayed the dragon. Well done.

1971Hans Posted February 19, 2023 Posted February 19, 2023 Well, that's a real old-timer. Very nice detailed, especially on 1/32.
