I guess he forgot TopFuel and Funny Cars on Nitro.

True....but.....they do it for a short time in a straight line. F1 can go into a turn from 205mph to 60mph and back to 185mph and do it lap after lap on a track 3.6 miles long in 1 min 25 seconds.

I look forward to the film and if I do not like it I'll just keep rewatching Grand Prix even though a different era.

There's always hope when a new racing movie comes out. Let's wish for special effects that are not too over the top.

I expect excellent racing... unlike the snooze fest real F1 has been in the last 20 or so years.

I'll have to see it since I'm a race fan but for some reason I'm not getting a good vibe from this. I could be completely wrong but just have a feeling.

I've been following F1 for almost 50 years. In most cases, recent F1 drivers' careers last until they reach their 30s, rarely their 40s

Brad Pitt (ageism factor) as an F1 driver.... hahahaha!

Actually, Indy Cars (on an oval) have a higher top speed than F1.

Hamilton is 40 and Alonzo is 43. 🙂

But, yes, I'm not buying Brad Pitt (61) as an F1 driver.

I guess he forgot that SWEEEET '07 Taurus I have.

I'll check it out. Like many others, the Netflix series got me interested a few years ago.

He forgot about Indycars. Much faster than F1. F1 is quicker, but not faster.

Count me in.  Just hope it's not Top Gun in open-wheel cars.  As mentioned above it'll be tough to compete with Rush and Grand Prix.

Actually Land speed Record cars are much faster, though in a straight line and over a 5 mile couse. F1 cars are however damn quick in the corners.

I'll give the movie a shot. F1 is the ultimate endurance race. Some my argue 24 Hours of Le Mans is. I went to F1 races at Denver and Long Beach, and the sights and sounds blew me away. It's like driving a car with the torque of a dirt bike. Being up close, and sprayed by tire marbles was great. And the watching the international attendees is a show in itself.

Yes they are fastest in a straight line but they go by themselves, in competition with at least two cars the Nitro cars are both quickest and fastest in a straight line, from a standing start to a thousand feet in 3.623 s for Top Fuel and 3.793 s for Funny Car, at 338.94 mph for Top Fuel and 341.68 for Funny Car (a couple of Top Fuel dragsters even went over 300 mph at the 1/8 mile)...these are the national records, pretty quick and fast.
F1 is quickest on road courses but not fastest for top speed, that goes to Indy Car on ovals

I think 'Rush' was one of the better the latest F1 movies, though, despite the backstories of neglected wives and lovers, 'Grand Prix' had some outstanding F1 car action shots especially on the old Monza, Spa, and Zandvoort tracks.

Colour me skeptical. I envision Days Of Blunder for the open wheel crowd. The story line is uninspired drivel; Young driver shows huge promise, accident takes him out, spends career wading in the quagmire of second and third tier racing, finds new meaning late in life as a mentor for a new driving prodigy. Yawn. Combine that with the usual perceived need to create contrived, dramatic action scenes. By all appearances, typical Hollywood wind-up.

The reason Rush, as a story, was so good is because is a real story. One of the countless real stories in motorsport history that are incredibly interesting and compelling. As for a Hollywood crafted yarn, I'll wait for it to show up on Late Night Movies in a couple years.

I don't know, its got to compare itself to "Redline 7000".  A high standard to be certain.

Not that high of a standard.
