Dave Ambrose Posted Monday at 05:30 PM Posted Monday at 05:30 PM Today, Gregg Hutchings, and Dave Ambrose issued the following statement: Over the years, the forum has grown into a fantastic community and gained its own identity. Rather than stifle this amazing community, Model Cars Magazine has chosen to embrace it and allow the forum to grow into its own and best serve its current needs. This also allows the magazine to focus its energy into what it does best: bringing you great model car content in print. What’s going to change? The forum will be moving to a new web address, modelcarmakers.com. The forum leadership that you've grown to know and trust will remain the same but will now be the ones running the show. The forum may still do collaborations with Model Cars Magazine, but we'll have our own website with content crafted especially for Model Car Makers. Gregg Hutchings and his team will concentrate on bringing you top quality articles and show coverage. Dave Ambrose is leaving the magazine to head up Model Car Makers. For further information, please direct your inquiries to info@modelcarmakers.com or Gregg@modelcarsmag.com. 17

IceMan Collections Posted Monday at 07:24 PM Posted Monday at 07:24 PM @Dave Ambrose, when is the full migration scheduled to be complete? Like when does the modecarsmag extension end?

Bugatti Fan Posted Monday at 08:25 PM Posted Monday at 08:25 PM Who is/will become the actual full owner/CEO of the new Model Car Makers forum / website ? Has the emergence of another directly competitive printed automotive modelling magazine had any influence on the decision to break away ?

Ah, that would be me. 😁 We're retaining our capable group of moderators. Quote Has the emergence of another directly competitive printed automotive modelling magazine had any influence on the decision to break away ? No, it unequivocally did not. 4
Bugatti Fan Posted Monday at 08:47 PM Posted Monday at 08:47 PM (edited) Thanks for the feedback Dave. I guess that autonomy will now give you much more scope to develop the forum. Edited Monday at 08:49 PM by Bugatti Fan

Roger U Posted yesterday at 12:19 AM Posted yesterday at 12:19 AM This forum has been very helpful and entertaining through the years. I'm glad to see it will continue with an owner and moderators who know how to run it and know about the subject, model cars (trucks, motorcycles, etc.). 1
Bugatti Fan Posted yesterday at 08:40 AM Posted yesterday at 08:40 AM (edited) As the new site develops maybe motor cycles could have its ow section instead of being buried in anything else. Edited 7 hours ago by Bugatti Fan
Shelby 427 1965 Posted yesterday at 10:14 AM Posted yesterday at 10:14 AM When I saw an important announcement I feared the worst - thank god it's not! Onwards and upwards, can't wait to see what it brings
Cool Hand Posted yesterday at 10:18 AM Posted yesterday at 10:18 AM Interesting, hope it will kick it up a notch and bring a new life to the forum. 1

Dave G. Posted yesterday at 01:04 PM Posted yesterday at 01:04 PM Interesting, I'll keep an eye out for hopefully the new live link as things get launched.
John M. Posted yesterday at 01:50 PM Posted yesterday at 01:50 PM The title maybe changing but thankfully not the members. We a have a great crew here and that's what makes the site special. We're here for each other. 1
peteski Posted yesterday at 03:05 PM Posted yesterday at 03:05 PM Interesting news. Congratulations! In the past you welcomed large size photos (not reallynecessary for being viewed in the online forum setting) being uploaded to the forum in case the forum's contents is deemed worthy of publishing in the MCM magazine. Will this relationship between the forum and MCM still exist, or more reasonably sized photos will be ok? I did like the direct link between the forum and the magazine, but I guess in the end it doesn't matter what the forum's name is. Will there be an option for ad-free paid membership, or members (regularly annoyed by very intrusive, some even sexual-themed click-bait ads) will still have to resort to ad-blockers? 1
Phildaupho Posted yesterday at 03:34 PM Posted yesterday at 03:34 PM (edited) All the best to both entities and all involved. I have been a subscriber to Model Cars magazine since it was still Plastic Fanatic and hope it continues to publish a print magazine for many years to come. It appears the forum started in 2006, and I am surprised I did not join until 2009, but it has been my go-to ever since. I have tried other forums but this one works best for me. tim boyd Posted yesterday at 03:55 PM Posted yesterday at 03:55 PM Congratulations to Gregg, Dave, and the entire MCM magazine and Forum teams. Best wishes for great success to come for all involved in both endeavors....TIM
Can-Con Posted 23 hours ago Posted 23 hours ago So, the only thing changing is the name and web address? Everything will be exactly the same except for that for now? If so, would have been easier to just say that. 🤔 1

The magazine and the "new" forum and website are owned and operating 100% independent of one another. Having said that, everyone is still friends, so there will most likely be some collaborations of some sort. As for paid memberships, there are a few things we need to sort out, like what members will get for their membership fee, but we all like the idea of offering an ad-free experience. So we'll see. The goal would be that a paid membership covers the ad-revenue generated by a user, so that membership covers the income we'd normally get from ads and clicks. We need to figure out exactly how that breaks down per user, and then we will know how much to charge. Nobody panic! We do not want this to be expensive. We want it to be less than the cost of a typical 1/25 scale car model kit. And no, I'm not referring to the cost of a Tamiya McLaren, or a big rig, or a Pocher. 41 minutes ago, Can-Con said: So, the only thing changing is the name and web address?
