Black Friday sale at the local hobbyshop, just grabbed this kit since Revell has now discontinued it.IMG_7225.thumb.JPG.08ba5d49c846b5fe21b6e0a2188f2729.JPG

That's too bad they're discontinuing it; good thing I got mine for Easter 2023. Really nice kit to build; no issues whatsoever

Stopped by WalMart today, dropped by the toy department to see what might be left on their most recent model display. The models and the rack were gone. An associate was putting out some toys and I asked her if it had been moved. She checked her hand-held device and even checked in a back room.  She told me they were all gone, but they should be getting another rack in sometime mid-week.  Guess I'll be going back up there mid-week to see if anything transpires.

At least they're getting more. Our store got a display last year and it sold out quickly. A few weeks later I asked the department manager when they'd be getting more and she said, "I don't like that sh*t and I ain't gonna see it on my shelf." I guess she was right because the only 'boy toys' they have is a small assortment of Jada diecasts and the Hot Wheels.

It ain't about what she likes, it's what the consumer likes. I'da talked to the main super about that.

That and the mono wing counterpart are very interesting aircraft. Very maneuverable .  Spain had these during the revolution and I think it was actually the first plane with retractable landing gear.

Yes  I have built the mono-wing about two years ago, nice kit.

That's walmart for you. I'm in the same boat, it's five minutes away, I drive 20 to hobby lobby. Funny how some store have and others don't. Must be a regional thing, or like your case, up to some Karen, I mean manager.

Soo you think it’s a Christmas thig?   My wife said the kits was the same when she was there!

Got a tapered plastic cone today. Found it where house building contractors had thrown a bunch of scraps into a dumpster, might be a cap end for PVC pipes or something. What I've been thinking for several years after I won a pile of glue bombs in an eBay auction, is that I could use a cone shape like this for the one really forlorn-looking 32nd scale Pyro Ford Model T Coupelet that was included in the pile. (I couldn't bring myself to toss it out because … save the gluebombs by any means possible!)

Now, with this cone and a bit of re-shaping and 'angle work' to the roof, and some other scratch built mixer machine items, I'd be able to prove Steve Scott really did use a T truck cab from a 1915-era cement truck to make his Uncertain T. 😂 Mixer drum probably needs to be a tic shorter, and have a tic smaller diameter front section made from an old film canister or similar diameter thing like a small aspirin bottle.

I have a pro-street build in mind, and these seem like a popular starting point…

Looks like the frame would be easily adaptable to all kinds of other builds, and while I’m not gonna build a Nova I DO have a non-prostreet Nova idea in mind too…

Both were frictions but are missing the flywheel motors; the ivory one has a somewhat damaged taillight and the blue one got a set of AMT Riviera wheels and tires long ago. A previous owner did a mostly great job painting the trim silver so they'll probably just get a good cleanup and hit the shelf until I get the bumpers and wheels rechromed - I have some Marlin wheelcovers which were optional on the real thing so those can replace the Rivies on the blue one.

Got a bunch of 3 (very) old junkers/built-ups today: though I was only interested in the Heller Lotus 49 (need the drivetrain and wheels for another racer), I took all 3 for 25 € including postage: 1/24 Otaki Toyota 7 and

Otaki 1/20 Ferrari 275 GTB:

As they are mostly complete, I will build the 2 Otakis in the future (both are motorized toys): the Ferrari will be stock/curbside :

- I have it already disassembled.

The Toyota seems to be  the very first version with a different tail than shown on the boxlid and consists only of the body shell with seats and engine, so I will build up kind of aluminium chassis :

The Lotus will be butchered:

I've been wanting to do the Toyota 7 for awhile. I have one in the secondary stash in the garage. The primary lives in the house. Not sure how accurate the engine is in those things. I know the Nissans of that era had used a Chevy engine.

I have found 2 pics of this very car in the internet (developed and built by Yamaha in 1967/68, Yamaha engine 3 l V8 for the first race):

The extra money I made at work last month was burning a hole in my pocket so I picked these two models up on E Bay last week as they were. The Volvo is the first import to my collection and I had to have the Galaxie Army car. Both went for reasonable prices and were very well done to boot.

Yesterday's arrival for me was a free plastic cone-shape piece for a future cement truck comedy act. Today's arrival is more elaborate and fun, a nicely priced $25 + shipping eBay score. I spotted this one around a month ago, the seller misID'd it as an Indycar, looked like '60s F1 to me, but probably not a Ferrari. The seller had a tape measure next to it showing it as a foot long, so via a combined internet search of the "Matra" lettering on the valve covers plus my guess of it being 1/12 scale, it turns out to be a Tamiya or Ebbro Matra MS11, confirmed by our own MCM forum's John Brolin in his ongoing buildup of one of these. Never heard of the Matra team, I'm more of an early '90s F1 fan, so I learned about how spiffy their V12s were, plus it was a French team with blue cars. Who knows what the long-ago builder of this one was thinking on painting it candy apple red. I alerted the eBay seller what this was, he fixed the title/description in his first listing. No bidders in that one or the 2nd, same happening in its 3rd relisting, so I just could not resist on the last day. Single bid win!  It's missing the nose / radiator, but that's ok, I have alternate plans that I've been kicking around in my mind for a long time based on computer illustrations like what's seen in the bottom image from a guy who combined exotic cars with F1-style exposed engines. Seen that similar idea drawn by another illustrator, plus there was a image right here at MCM a decade+ ago of a C10 Chevy pickup with major F1-syle enginework out back.  A cheap 18th scale (close enough for government work / custom work!) diecast American classic car is "in the mail" to me.
