I like the Pontiac, is that a decent kit? Got these in the week: Was surpised to get it for the starting bid, meaning it was significantly cheaper than the recent reissue. Looks to be an early one, no barcodes on the box, and it's quite a crisp moulding. Get the paint stripped and I've got a good starting point for an early '80s custom - there was a magazine project car from back then which I'd like to loosely replicate. As I recall it had a padded vinyl top and opera windows..... Not my usual thing, but looks like it should be an enjoyable thing to do someday. At some point it was sold for £4.99, but I can't believe it was ever that cheap full price so must have been on clearance.

Modlbldr Posted October 15, 2022 Posted October 15, 2022 Got a couple more things in the mail today. Both from FB. Been wanting another of the 68 Firebird kits and after quite a few tears I finally got one. The 68 Torino I wasn't sure how different it was from the oft-reissued 69 but the box was in great shape and just looked cool! Later- 3

As I recall it had a padded vinyl top and opera windows..... The AMT Rabbit [Golf MkI] is one of my favorite kits. I've built 2 and have 2 more in the stash. Underhood area is very fiddly though, no mounting points for the engine/tranny. That's definitely NOT the same kit that AMT reissued a couple years ago though. The reissue is a 1/24 Esci kit and this kit is originally AMT 1/25 and has only been issued that one time. If you need chassis or engine parts, the reissued AMT MkI Sirocco chassis and engine are identical to the ones in this kit. 1
OldNYJim Posted October 16, 2022 Posted October 16, 2022 IPMS show here in NW Indiana today - brought home some goodies from the swap meet. Not the best 40 Ford kit out there, but I never built one before and it was cheap… This has been on my grail list and I finally found one for a good price…I REALLY want the Offie variation, but I was pleased to get my hands on one of the two regardless: I’ll never turn down a cheap TD kit (and actually, these are selling for way too much money online now…) One of these, because it too was cheap and I never built one…is this the kit where the body isn’t very accurate? Time to research… My second Ala Kart purchase in a week…I have three ideas in mind for building there, and now I have two in stock ready for whenever I get to them… And a bunch of $1 Tamiya paint, some (apparently) still good Testors Boyd rattlecans for a buck a piece and the AMT Blueprinter set with three or four engines in and a set of custom grilles: Came home with a trophy too, but I didn’t particularly deserve it ?? 2
slusher Posted October 16, 2022 Posted October 16, 2022 Real nice kits, Jim you are right about the Beer Wagon selling for too much online all Tom Daniel kit are pricey.

In mymind it was metallic green with a white top. Even if I've misremembered it completely I like the idea, and it'll go with a Mini I want to build in a period custom style. I remember that Fiesta in CC.

The more of those Atlantis reissues (of the ones they got, obviously) the better! Approaching $50 for a Red Baron or Beer Wagon is a LOT…that’s like a buck fifty a part almost ??

RSchnell Posted October 18, 2022 Posted October 18, 2022 Been looking for another AMT '28 Model A Tudor kit. Got this from Crazy Jim here on the forum. 2
KWT Posted October 18, 2022 Posted October 18, 2022 Used to have one of these, but can't find it anywhere. Figured I'd jump on ebay and try to get one... holy cow... not only very few on there, but dang the prices?!?! and I thought the 64 impalas were high... of course not that this is here, I'm sure I'll run across the other one. 1

Remember, on eBay anyone can ask whatever they want in the hopes of catching a sucker! I always look at the "sold" section to see what they are really going for.

I took a GIANT leap of faith and put in some pretty low bids, and won them all today. Now to see if the kits are complete, or complete junk (well I know the Palmer Karmann Ghia kit is complete junk, anyway). Fingers crossed! So now the unboxing. Let's lay 'em out on the old leopard skin and see what I got: '61 Imperial, Continental and Falcon. Good builders. Monogram '32 Ford Hot Rod (plus extra decals), complete. '61 Impala builder with parts from the '61 Imperial Aw rats. Strombecker Austin-Healey. '59 Buick with some fixable roof problems, plus '61 Impala parts And the Impala, with Imperial bits Score! '61 Starliner, nice clean builder, and some '61 Caddy leftovers plus a big red nose '61 Caddy, fins damaged but repairable, and Continental parts Parts, parts, parts, some '61 Pontiac stuff on top, but the Pontiac itself went AWOL '61 Comet with some custom parts, savable; Ranchero stuff in the box The Ranchero and some Corvair remains in the box And finally, a complete unbuilt un-messed-with '64 Continental - no tire damage, thankfully. So I guess it was a decent haul for the money. Edited October 18, 2022 by ChrisBcritter 6

Don’t know what you paid but you certainly got some really cool stuff! 1961 is one of my favorite years for cars; a few years either side of ‘61 as well. You lucky duck! #1 model citizen Posted October 18, 2022 Posted October 18, 2022 Looking over your pics again it’s dawned on me that I had many of these back in the day. These were some of the first models I built and were lost during a move. ? 1
