aurfalien Posted November 13, 2017 Posted November 13, 2017 Hi, This is a beautiful kit! Looking forward to building OOB, maybe better wheels/tires. Got it super cheap!
HomerS Posted November 13, 2017 Posted November 13, 2017 Syclones is open but complete Tuff Truk is sealed inside
thatz4u Posted November 13, 2017 Posted November 13, 2017 got these over the weekend, going to trade the Chevelle & the Syclone...keeping the Bug...
unclescott58 Posted November 13, 2017 Posted November 13, 2017 Today I got Revell's '48 Ford Custom Coupe 3'n1. Kit 4253. I'm very happy with what I found in box. You can see my review on kit in another thread here.
Ace-Garageguy Posted November 14, 2017 Posted November 14, 2017 Another rough little bugger that's had a hard life. Somebody who apparently didn't quite have the skills started filling the rear door shut lines to make this a 2-door. Happily for the little car, they quit before doing irreparable harm. After I re-scribe them, she's going to join my cadre of AF/X-cars-that-never-were and oddball gassers.

Mike999 Posted November 14, 2017 Posted November 14, 2017 AMT '64 Lincoln convertible, off That Auction Site. Being a geezer, I remember that thru the 1980s and 90s, these were still not very popular, meaning not too expensive. Neither were the AMT Imperials. That's changed now, of course.By 1964, even AMT had to admit that the idea of a "competition" Lincoln was just goofy. So the 3 options for this one are Stock-Custom-Touring. The Touring version has a big luggage rack and a couple of suitcases. And a driver figure!
ChrisBcritter Posted November 14, 2017 Posted November 14, 2017 Hi,This is a beautiful kit!Looking forward to building OOB, maybe better wheels/tires. Got it super cheap! What tires come with this issue? I notice the Lindberg LRW doesn't use the old IMC Goodyears; does this have them?

The Jo-Han '61 and '62 Olds F-85 kits should have the firewall/radiator wall you need, if you have a junker available.

And you're right on about the firewall...I'm also doing an F-85 FX car with an injected 394 from the Anglia kit...and copying the firewall for the long-roof baby Buick.
aurfalien Posted November 14, 2017 Posted November 14, 2017 What tires come with this issue? I notice the Lindberg LRW doesn't use the old IMC Goodyears; does this have them? Hi, Well I think they are the weakest part of the kit as most domestic kits seem to suffer from the same fate. I snapped a few photos for you.

ChrisBcritter Posted November 14, 2017 Posted November 14, 2017 Thanks Aurf! They don't look much like the old IMC tires; the lettering is way larger and the tread is different. I have a Testors issue of this kit missing the tires; I should inventory it and see if anything else is missing.

iamsuperdan Posted November 15, 2017 Posted November 15, 2017 Finally found a kit I had been trying to find for a long time. Or more correctly, finally found one of these that wasn't insanely priced! And the best thing? No shipping. The seller was local, and actually works about 5 minutes from me. Bonus!
Ron Hamilton Posted November 15, 2017 Posted November 15, 2017 real nice classic Bill ! At least yours has the scripts. The one I re-built a couple of years ago had the custom front and rear treatments glued on. Fortunately, I was able to fix it up to a satisfactory level. Good score!
Mike999 Posted November 15, 2017 Posted November 15, 2017 Flea Market Day. Got really excited when I saw a JO-HAN '62 Rambler American box. But inside was...a (badly) built/painted AMT '40 Ford coupe. Drat! The same seller had a couple of older AMT/ERTL re-issues: '70 Impala and '65 Lincoln. But I already have 2 each of those, and am really trying not to buy kits just because I find them or "for parts." My basement is full enough already.
JeroenM3 Posted November 15, 2017 Posted November 15, 2017 i've just got these 2 come in today... Already started on the MK2 build, need to have it finished before this Xmas as its a gift for my mom as its one of her all time favorites. It's just my dad doesnt fit in one we found out this summer so itll never be bought so this is the next best thing i figured
smhardesty Posted November 16, 2017 Posted November 16, 2017 Or more correctly, finally found one of these that wasn't insanely priced! I understand that perfectly! I still have several kits on my "want list" and they are still on there for just that reason. I don't want to rip anybody off, just enjoy finding bargains.
disabled modeler Posted November 16, 2017 Posted November 16, 2017 I understand that perfectly! I still have several kits on my "want list" and they are still on there for just that reason. I don't want to rip anybody off, just enjoy finding bargains.Every one likes a good bargain...me included. My issues is the stuff I need/want is hard to find and on my very small income everything is tough to get so I understand well.
Casey Posted November 16, 2017 Posted November 16, 2017 The first step is getting...many different decals sheets. Good to see someone backed up the "I'll buy a case!" comment with photographic proof.
crazyjim Posted November 16, 2017 Posted November 16, 2017 I don't understand why a person would buy a dozen of the same kit.
Rob Hall Posted November 16, 2017 Posted November 16, 2017 I don't understand why a person would buy a dozen of the same kit.To do a dozen different versions.
highway Posted November 16, 2017 Posted November 16, 2017 I don't understand why a person would buy a dozen of the same kit. To do a dozen different versions. Exactly Rob!!! This was a few years ago, but all three of these Meng F350s came home at the same time and now I have five of them. All five I have plans for different versions, and some of my ideas require some major surgery!
