David G.
Randy, I've been following your build for quite a while now and I'm glad to see it when it shows up from time to time with fresh updates. Randy D
Hi Folks, Trevor, Thank you! Daniel Appreciate the comments. Hey Pierre, Yeah, I do tend to stretch out my builds, just kinda slow:) Hi Steve, It does seem that way sometimes my friend. Did change it up for this update. Thank you Mike! Francis, You are too kind Sir. Your builds always inspire me. Art, Thank you now get back to the bench!!! Maxx, Glad you like it. Dave B. Thank you! Hi Trevor, Ha, no black art here, just a stubborn modeler:) Thank you Noel, Going to try to have this one done for that show. It is the closest show to me. Andy, as always appreciate it! Hey Tim, Trying to get this one done in time, Hope to see you there! Hi David, Need to get back down to your area soon. Bruce T. Thank you ! Hi Bruce C. Glad you are back to the bench!!! Working to complete the top of the engine. First up is the fuel pump that is driven off the exhaust side cam... Next up is building the 2 side draft Webbers with working butterfly's.... more....
Randy D
Carbs continued.... Idle speed adjustment Control levers and linkage.... fuel banjos... made up some springs... Had to give up the idea of having the butterflys working. Just to much friction in all the linkage starting with the gas pedal plus no real springs that small. Thank you for looking in, Randy Edited February 13 by Randy D 1

David G.
I can't even imagine working on bits and pieces that small! 😮 I've run out of superlatives to describe the level and quality of the work you're doing. David G.
Pierre Rivard
Wow, those carbs are unbelievable. I fail to understand how you can achieve so much detail at such a small scale. Blown away!

Actually, I believe Randy is a 1/25 scale engineer. All those large fingers in the pictures are trick photography. That is the only explanation I have. I have trouble with regular kit parts. This build, this piece of art, belongs in a fine arts museum somewhere. Or maybe in the Smithsonian. Those small pieces are way too much for me to comprehend. Every those are to big so used a portion. Randy Edited February 14 by Randy D
gasser59
Unbelievable in every detail Randy. I'm completely over whelmed just looking at the pictures, I can't wait to see this in person at GSL!! The smallest springs I have found have been in wrist watch pins. Check them out.

AmericanMuscleFan
There are just too many wonders to digest in these pictures but I can tell you that it puts a big smile on the face of the extreme detail lovers and unfortunately I am one of them! I have total admiration for your masterpieces Randy! 👌

Bugatti Fan
This has to be the very best and finest scratch built model car that I have ever seen, and in 1/24th scale of a very complex car subject built with a Swiss watch maker's precision. A true master artisan modeller craftsman Cannot say more! The recognised masters like Olive Sans, Wingrove, Brianza and Conte's models are very large in comparison like 1/15th, 1/10th and 1/12th scale. Randy D
Hi Folks, Brad & Art , Thank you my friends. Yes, I should have this one ready for GSL. I see that Mr. Randy Derr has thrown down that gauntlet with that awesome 1/12th scale Corvette so going to have to finish strong:) Andy, get back to work, May is coming Francis, Thank you for that. I always get inspired looking at your work!! Daniel, appreciate the kind words, your brass chassis dragster is just wonderful. Bruce, Sorry to disappoint buddy!!! Charlie, glad you like it, you are setting the bar pretty high yourself. Thank you Dave B.!! Noel, that is a humbling list you have there! Work on the crankcase and oil pan..... Couple of reference pics, Photo credit to Joel Finns book and a recreation from England... White metal pieces filed to shape.... more coming.... Randy D
Need a generator and a starter and that funky shaped oil pan with cooling fins...using fairly thick lead sheet stock that is carved for fins to give me that fan shaped curve surface, this idea using the lead sheet came from Straightliner Daniel's dragster build where he used thin lead sheet for an embossed cog blower belt. more.... Randy D
bottom part of the oil pan... So started work on the wiring harness and made up the generator and starter with solenoid. As this is a front engine car with a rear transaxle the "tranny" is pretty much a clutch cover. That is all for now. Thank you for looking in!
