great progress, thanks for all the pix.

I'm not positive but I think the scales of the different kits would require some massaging for that combination to work.

Moebius Comet... Wild Bubbletop Show Rod- Done! 3-17
blunc replied to Impalow's topic in WIP: Model Cars
Did a little photo-chopping... mods as of last posting Shortened front clip to remove need for extra engine, shortened rear deck a little, relocated front wheels/drop axle to be in front of headlight housings, added header to give engine a location. DISCLAIMER Keep in mind that my photo-chopping is just to illustrate possibilities and is not meant to impose my ideas on Eric, since it has been plainly evident for quite a while that he doesn't really need any help building amazing models. -
blame it on the short-sighted people at botopucket... or the people that abused botopucket's "free" accounts...

if you're pleased by that...I guess it does.

blunc replied to Rocking Rodney Rat's topic in WIP: Model Cars
takes a few years... I saw it evidenced on a Car Model cover car, a funny car (The Vulture) made an appearance in 2016 at DSC12 on the display only table, tire/rim melt was plainly evident (keep in mind this is over 40 years old and not my model). if it's a concern, a coat of "future" floor polish between the rim and tire has been postulated to resolve this problem, another fix may be BMF the rim where it will touch the tire. -
lack of predators that keep the rat population down?

the problem is usually not just one thing. if you're changing engine innards, modifying one part can yield small to mild improvements in performance...changing lots of parts without applying the science and proven knowledge will usually result in a waste of money, time, and sometimes a persons life. you can switch from a two bbl manifold and carb to a four bbl manifold and carb, and performance will improve but the cam in the block may be best for only two bbl carbs and the resulting best case fuel mileage. the same scenario with single exhaust will also be limited by the exhaust...but just bolting on any dual exhaust system will not always yield best results. electronic fuel injection is a totally different beast with it's own pros and cons.

still in the 90's here but it cools down real nice come evening time.

Saw that my Lindberg 1/32 scale '34 Ford made an appearance in a model magazine (not this one but I'll take what I can get).

I had roof rats invade the space over my single story apartment in Phoenix. at night I would here them stampeding back and forth and fighting, I think one got stuck in the heating side of the crappy air conditioning system...when winter came and I turned the heat on, the smell of burning dead rodent was awful. I learned to check my pans before cooking after putting a pan on the stove that had been peed on. I don't miss that apartment at all.

That would irk me too, is it serviceable?

speaking of hydraulic lock, I heard a story about an engine that wouldn't crank over, the guy then replaced his battery and then starter before figuring out his problem went much deeper...water in a cylinder.

Very nice (and unexpected) birthday present!

those are really great, I acquired a Leica in similar fashion due to a department closing..those base plates are a bear to carry around by hand for any distance. I used it for replacing broken pins on really expensive Xeon processors for a while. they're great for getting splinters out also. -
don't forget our other unsung hero, Dave Ambrose.

This thread is creeping into "political" territory (I know, because I almost responded to Noel's post in a way that would have violated the political aspect...and changed the tone of this thread). All viewpoints are valid to their owners, but all viewpoints are not valid to everyone else... (back to the thread topic now) I am grateful that there were no forum members reported as being injured in the heinous Las Vegas shooting and am thankful that there are still people that will run toward gunfire in order to stop it.

The way I see it, there are several options for you to choose regarding your encounters with "experts" on this forum. 1. ignore them, after a while, they will get the hint (usually) 2. message them directly, tell them "thanks for the input but I am accepting this (thing) as it is and proceeding per my taste/style." 3. respond to them in the thread with the above message. 4. report them. 5. accept that they may have a valid point and that the input they provided may be useful to some other forum user (but ignore them anyway).

68 C10 truck hood
blunc replied to kmc3420's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
That type of hood scoop doesn't really fit mildly customized street trucks (my opinion), something from a sixties Stingray might look good or cowl induction style like seventy Chevelle L88 might be worth looking at, depends on your taste.
