Sorry it's been rather a long time since I updated this one. The following is work that was carried out a few years ago - around 2013-2014 (crikey - this project is 10 years old!). The images were 'lost'. I have slowly been finding them, and I think I have them all for the work done so far. Pictures were originally uploaded to Image shack, but when they started charging I did not subscribe. Other pictures were on an old PC, which I've recently been sifting through. Anyway, enough of my waffling - here's some more progress... Scratch made sump (oil pan) in the style of a baffeled after-market item (eg Moroso). I scratch built a semi-roll cage from plastic rod. A little warming with a candle flame to make the bends. This is just a partial cage, as this Galaxie is just meant to be a steet racer - not a competition car. The cross member under the engine is now a removable part. This is the only way I can get the block in/out. The heater box moulded into the firewall does not match any referance pics I can find for the '65 Galaxie, so I scatch built a new one. A coat of white primer from a rattle can. More to follow soon...

Thanks ? Thanks? Thanks - I wish I had the attention span I used to have too! I really need to crack on with this one.

A brilliant start Rico. I will be watching for more on this one. -
Great job ??. That engine looks fantastic. The wash makes all the difference. Nice job on the wiring too.
-
Great paint job. Im surprised Revell never did a full detail version of this.

Fantastic work. This is coming together very well. I love, love, love those flames.
-
Just beautiful ??. Satin finish is particularly nice.

My favourite brand of 2K too??. I have a question about Alpha kits, and I hope you don’t mind me asking it here, since you have built a few. Do they always supply the ‘glass’ parts as a flat sheet, or are they vac formed for double curvature?
-
You absolutely nailed it! That is the perfect amount of patina. It’s hard to believe you’re looking at a model and not a 1:1 barn find. Fantastic job ??.
-
Absolutely stunning! That is such a perfect clean build. The Turbo model is stunning too. Great photography as well. Would I be correct in saying this Revell kit shares the same tooling as the Fujimi Enthusiast kit?
-
This is a fantastic start to one of the best detail kits available in 1/24. I never realised that the Testors tool was the same as the Fujimi Enthusiast. I have the Revell kit, which is also the same tool, in my stash. You’ve made a great start. I like the frunk detail ??.

Nice work Urs. This is nearing completion now. What kind of clear did you use? Was it 2K?
-
Fantastic job ??. That many decals would give me nightmares.
-
I think that is the nicest Tamiya GT2 I have seen. Well done ??. Great paint job.

Wow. The detail level is insane. Keep up the amazing work.

Removing overspray is a lot more trouble than correctly masking beforehand. I don’t think you overused the tape. This is looking great. Can’t wait to see it under glass.

I’m not familiar with the Nicky 427 kit, but I’d love to get my hands on one. Interestingly, I was strongly considering Torque Thrust wheels for this too, but in the end opted for the Cragars just because I already have a few sets in the parts box.

That engine alone is a model worth displaying by itself.

1:16 Scale 1962 Ford Consul Cortina by FROG kits
beeRS replied to Anglia105E's topic in WIP: Model Cars
Well done on winning the auction for this rare kit David. I have never found one in all my years, and if had seen it come up on eBay I might have bid against you. I love your back story on your father’s 4-door. Everyone always has a soft spot for the car they learned driving in. I own a 1:1 of these, so I’m intimately familiar with the shape, and I can say the proportions of the Frog kit look pretty good. it certainly seems more accurate than most of the 1/24 resin kits I’ve seen. Interesting that Frog chose to do a 4-door and show a 2-door on the box art. Good luck with the build. I’ll be watching this come together with interest. -

That looks crazy cool. Good work on the wheel centres. How did you achieve that paint effect on the body? -
I love the floating’ console. Very concept car like.
-
That is simply stunning. Feels like I'm being tricked and looking at a 1:1 car!
-
I never knew of the existence of this kit! I'll be watching with interest.
