What did you see on the road today?
bogger44 replied to Harry P.'s topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Spent last week out in the beautiful Black Hills of South Dakota for some fishing and much needed R&R. Saw quite a few cool rides and rigs out there. The beautiful 63 T-bird was in Sioux Falls, and the last 2, in need of rescue, were out in the plains. The Bronco was unbelievably clean. -
Super sharp, those wire wheels really set it off.

It looks like they put the Shelby scoops on the quarters & c pillars. I think you could get away with using the AMT 67, using the 68 Shelby scoops. The simulated intakes/scoops on the 67 are separate pieces if I recall correctly so it should, in theory, be a fairly easy swap. Fab up some side marker lights and a strip of Evergreen for the rocker panel trim (unless those are side pipes, kind of hard to tell, don't think they are?) and you'd be in pretty good shape. I'm not sure off-hand how much of a difference there is between the 67 and 68 interiors other than the steering wheel, if that factors in. The AMT 67 is quite a bit better overall than the Revell 68, but as Trevor mentioned it's not a terrible kit and assembles well. The Revell kit would save a little bit of work since it's got the rocker panel trim and the side marker lights.

The other day I followed this beautiful 58 Dodge Regal Lancer through town. Think it may have been the first one I've ever seen. -

Absolutely beautiful piece of work, museum worthy! Your fabrication skills are top notch, can't wait to see the 79! -
I dig it, looking pretty mean. Love the colors & striping, it all works well together. I've built one (stock) and have another lurking in the stash with no plans, maybe I'll go your route with it, it's inspiring me a bit. Thanks for sharing.

Very nice looking Cyclone, definitely looks good in that color. I've only built one of the AFX'ers, but do seem to remember the bumpers being a bit fiddly to install. I had to trim up the rear window a little too.

Well done Ray, especially for a quick build. I agree about the decals and wonder why they're not bigger. Is that stance straight out of the kit or did you raise it? I really didn't have a desire to pick up this kit, but seeing yours now has me thinking maybe I need one.

Beautiful bird, despite the issues it turned out well.
-
Sharp work on the chrome trim and interior. Gold fits the 'bird well. I really like this build, well done.

What a beautiful model, and swell photography as well. Pearl Green looks oh-so good on it. I've got the convertible to build, but dread the BMF work needed lol.

Well, I got another one slung together and into the books. As usual for a Tamiya kit, it went together superbly. Opened up the door windows, added some Aoshima AVS Model T6 wheels, and some parts box license plates, otherwise she's box stock. Paint is Tamiya TS-50 Mica Blue, wheels are done in TS-21 Gold top-coated with TS-71 smoke. I gave the tail lights a coat of smoke as well. I had taken pictures with my usual set up in the backyard, but was struggling to get decent ones for some reason. So, I tried some on the patio and thought they turned out better, and also gave a better representation of the colors, so here they are. Thanks for lookin' and any comments or questions.

Way late to the party, but here's some shots that I took at the show. A few are duplicates of ones Steve has posted but I'm sure nobody will mind hahaha. Would have posted them sooner but have been pretty busy since then. It was a great show and fun getting to talk to a few fellow builders. This was the first time I've attended the show and really had a good time, and picked up inspiration along the way. Steve, seeing your Coronet in person was a real treat as it is a masterpiece. My friend that came with couldn't get over how realistic the carbs are, as well as all the other details you packed into that beauty. And yes, I thought Jeff's T-bird was stunning as well.

Big Pearson fan here. Absolutely love this build!

Wow is that beautiful! Definitely could pass as a 1:1 as fellow members have said.

Love that you backdated it, she's super slick lookin'. Well done!

2017 Ford F150 Raptor
bogger44 replied to bogger44's topic in Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
Thanks guys! While the kit is nothing to write home about, at least it looks the part and builds easy. Thanks Roger! I think the tires really brought it to life too. Had 'em laying around needing a home for some time now. Yeah the stripes on the seats are decals. They laid down better than I thought they would, was a little apprehensive at first, especially the fronts. -
2017 Ford F150 Raptor

Finished this up a couple days ago. Super simple kit with only 18 parts, but it looks the part when done. I just wish it had the detail that their first gen Raptor snap kit has, as it runs circles around this one. That being said though, I'm glad to have added this one to my collection. Treated it to a lift to better fit the BFG Krawlers from Fireball Modelworks, and added some exhaust tips (brass tubing) since the kit has none. Paints are Tamiya TS-26 Pure White over a TS-34 Silver Leaf base. TS-42 Light Gunmetal for the flares, bumpers, and wheels. Rustoleum 2X Flat Black for the bed & chassis. Interior is Krylon Short Cuts Flat Black, as is the hood insert. With 27 decals in the interior, that was probably the most time consuming part of the build. Treated the rear windows & moonroof to Tamiya TS-71 Smoke as well. A fun little build! Thanks for looking and any comments or questions. -
Thanks again for the comments, sorry about the late reply!

Well Done! It definitely looks the part. -
'81 Bronco
bogger44 replied to Plowboy's topic in Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
Excellent Bronco Roger! Like everyone else, I dig the Eddie Bauer vibe it has. Great move on throwing a 351 under the hood to help turn those Hawgs. I've got a glue bomb High Roller F150 that I may bash with a Bronco as well. Sooo many projects to get to! Lol -
A number of years ago I built a Super Stock out of mine and used the Thunderbolt headers. It was an extremely tight fit. I got them to fit fairly decent but it wasn't easy, and took a lot of trimming & filing of them and the front frame rails (best I can remember). I do believe I had to file down some of the tubes to clear the shock towers (maybe the towers a bit too?). They ended up hanging down petty low as well. I'm pretty sure one could get them to fit better than what I did here. On another note, I had to slide the front spindles a bit forward to get the tires lined up in the wheel wells. A couple reference pics. Yes, this was built before knowing the exhaust didn't have to be hooked up to the headers per S/S rules LOL.

That roll bar padding is very convincing. Great looking build. I wouldn't mind adding one of his Wrangler cars to my collection someday, another one of my favorite liveries.
