I believe this is a 1965 corvette. I use many parts from this street rods 1963 corvette to restore it

casting is a messy business, I tried, but maybe somebody will take over -
I knew about the grille but not about the b post vent

the only difference that I se on the 65/66 is 65 had fuel injection on the fender . 66 just had flags

I just got a 66annual Corvette ht kit. This is where the big block originated but AMT called it a 396. This engine survived the Street Rods version but the small block was shut off the plastic. ERTL returned the small block in the 80s

From what I understsnd, the F&F Charger is a made -up car or cars. They take 68,69,70 chargers and make them all a 1970. Nothing is real . Even the blower is a dummy.

I like the 65 Merc better than the 66. But the 65 was ruined to create the 66 which has been re-issued tons of times.

Get an ERTL 1974 Barracuda snap kit and remove the bumperettes.

I bought this 1975 kit at Woolworths but never built . Last one that I built was the 1973. First one was the 1968. Yeah the springs worked okay.

Rising price of our hobby

Interesting thought: In the 1970-1980s Woolworths was selling AHM model trains to the customer for less money than hobby shop dealers were paying with their discount. needless to say, it killed their business. -
I am not sure about those cast wheels. This is Jim Morrison's The Blue lady , a 1967 Shelby. It was bought new by Morrison

I could make a statement; most of the MPC cars seemed narrow undersized. That becomes a problem if you are using the MPC Charger as the standard.

I got 50 cents a week for allowance in 1966 ; that takes 4 weeks to buy most kits. -

Dealer net for these kits is about $15 to 18. Pretty hard to get a new kit cheaper unless the store is going out of business. It's not just inflation, economy of scale isn't there like it was back in 1964 -1974 -

What predictions can we make for new kit releases in 2017?
Bob Ellis replied to GMP440's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
I would rather see the Roadhog 225 reissued. Seriously , the plastic is the least cost. The packaging , advertizing, distribution costs are the same no matter what you make. -
T.M.Resin on eBay had the 65/66 big block hood
-
This is an AMT. The MPC had a different grille and no funny ridge line in the door

The promo model was brown
