  1. Ditto - got a pic of the one I snagged here, with a second photo in comparison to a larger scale Shelby Collectibles one.
  2. (Senility on my part - forgot to post these from yesterday's grocery store visit) One needs restoration, the other is all done.
  3. The failure to do so sometimes has entertaining results. The yellow for my old Diablo Speedster Flambé is nail polish, as is the pearl orange for the flames, but when I went to thin one bottle of yellow with lacquer thinner to airbrush it, whatever the nail polish was made out of didn't agree with the thinner. Looked like I'd created fluid for a lava lamp.
  4. Snagged off eBay last week for cheap. A few years back I was kicking around the idea of a mild late ‘50s-era custom of the much more common ’58 Impala hardtop, but got my mind permanently stuck on a Bonneville version instead, only to discover the kits are generally in unobtainium-level prices. Patience does pay sometimes in long term eBay watching, and this one is ideally suited for the price. Since it’s already missing its trim, it’s not like I will be wrecking a pristine original. Only needs a little bit of putty on the rear bumper before rechroming, and as for the rest of it, such as a full roof, there’s no problems a donor ’58 Impala can’t easily cure. As though I really needed another project, of course, but you guys know how that goes …..
  5. Yea! Might call for an unexpected set of stripes, although I can't think of what might work at the moment ....
  6. I vaguely remember seeing that site. A search of his name turned up a forum thread with a link to it, which now doesn't function, however, the "Internet Wayback Machine" site has archive pages of it, where the latest in May 2015 seems to have quite a lot of still-visible photos within it: https://web.archive.org/web/20150518145925/http://www.stlouisdumptrucks.com:80/ConvoyMackTruck/index.html
  7. On the way to Heathrow as we speak. Up until my afternoon bike rides got too hot, I'd watch the incoming #289 arriving. Hard to miss a plane that size. https://flightaware.com/live/flight/BAW288 Aircraft Type: Boeing 747-400 (quad-jet)
  8. I forget if you mentioned it elsewhere - I see you have at least one photo with the DiAntoni / Weitz watermark - have you corresponded directly with the guys (I think it is Barry Weitz) at the official Movin' On Facebook page?
  9. I'd bookmarked this old thread for its info on such a project - have you seen the growing accumulation of helpful build details in this current thread?
  10. Forgot about that. What I do (since the usual "visit store" option is not like the old way) is click on the seller's feedback score, which takes me to the page where I can click on the "View items for sale" link. Don't know what evilbay's problems is these days ....
  11. Threw me at first, too. I regularly bookmark various listings I like of old/rare just to see what the high bid ended up, and for a short time I thought it was an unusual number of guys who had yanked their auctions before the end. Deleted several of my bookmarks in frustration, but once I saw "the listing" word as a clickable link, I was able to re-load the deleted pages out of my links history pile. Evil bay ...... still occasionally a source for cheap parts & kits if a person is patient enough to keep a longterm eye on it.
  12. That's all good info there, one of these days I'll have to add this one to my build list. Except I might cheat in one facet of it by lengthening the frame just a touch to suit my own preferences.
  13. Myself as well, although with just some flat-end round rod (might have been either brass or just plastic), as described in my '57 T-bird under glass thread, 3rd & 4th photos in the sequence there. Tedious, ripped up several strips of Bare Metal Foil 'til I got the hang of it.

  15. Bats look alike to me - for the one with the two grill openings in the front, I see quad headlights and a GTO badge that isn't there. On paint, my vote goes to a fairly deep metallic blue with double white stripes down the middle. Side pipes, too, if you want to get even more sacrilegious.
  16. Such was said about that no-name housepainter guy whose dropcloths ended up on gallery walls instead of in the dumpster. What was his name? Jackson Pollock?
  17. Seems like it was only last year that you were asking this....... where does time go? Yep, I'll be there as usual, hope to have more than one project finished by that time.
  18. That show sent me straight into building nothing but trucks for quite a while. If I have one gripe these days, it's that the rig here has the newer Budd wheels instead of what was on it during the TV episodes.
  19. VAST improvement on the headlights arrangement.
  20. Begs to be sectioned, though .....
  21. I tried out the "No" button there just to be doubly sure ....
  22. ????? The forums you are a member of have no moderators to report this activity to? Or are you speaking of some other internet groups/communities you belong to? Me, I only look at 3 other internet forums I belong to besides this one, and those maybe only once or twice a month, and I have no idea how most all the other social media things work, so I'm having a tough time comprehending what this problem might be. Call me a social media Luddite, I guess.I know Facebook has account impersonations going on, but I get the impression they are sheer spammers, not the kind of troublemakers you speak of ......
  23. Missed last year due to my elderly mother cracking her sternum, but if she can behave herself between tonight and mid-morning tomorrow, I should be there long enough to take in some contest entry viewing and a round or two through the vendor area. Can't stay longer than that, though.
