It's been a good Thanksgiving today and I hope it's been the same for all of you! (Hope you're felling better and getting some rest, Alan!)

Yes, but they had SS emblems in the centers. (Only you and I'd care, but...)

That sawing sound you hear is from a bunch of original '68 Impala, '67 and '68 Pontiac kit bodies losing their roofs in preparation for conversion...

Round 2 December 2019 Product Spotlight
ChrisBcritter replied to martinfan5's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
Didn't the '53 Ford come with a single exhaust in the original issue? Looks like it has the duals from the convertible now. (Now, if they'd only pull a Moebius and give us a '54 Skyliner... ) -

Thanks everyone! And a shout-out to George Hernandez at GT Kustom Krome. He received the bumpers on October 7th and I got them back November 25th; the new chrome looks terrific. In the future I'll be sending him just a couple items at a time so it won't tie up too many projects at once. Now back to the '65 Nova, I promise...

...or "Even my slumpbusters have slumps." I picked up this '66 Fairlane back in August 2018: A bit grungy, with worn chrome and an amateur two-tone and stripe job, but savable. I dismantled it and removed the black paint, which was a major struggle - a LOT of rubbing with Testors ELO stripper finally got it all. Fixed the tweaked left taillight and touched them both up with the Molotow pen, replaced the missing gearshift, then stripped the front and rear bumpers to send out to Chrome-Tech USA. Well, we all know what happened then. After CT went paws-up, I shelved the thing until GT Kustom Krome came back on the scene; I sent out the bumpers in early October and got them back this afternoon. So here we are - the stripes aren't perfect but they're original: Thanks for looking!

Actors and Models
ChrisBcritter replied to Casey's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
So, when you don't count direct TV/movie tie-ins, that leaves the Travolta Fever Firebird, Farrah's Foxy Vette, the Paul Newman 280ZX, the KISS van, and the TV Tommy Ivo dragster. Frankly, the Michael J. Pollard '36 Ford is the most tenuous connection of the bunch - there are no '36 Fords in the B&C movie since they bit the dust in 1934, and I haven't ever seen any evidence of Pollard having owned such a car. Tommy Ivo didn't have that memorable an acting career, but it paid for the cars. Which, I guess, keeps him from being too embarrassed about running around in a loincloth in a studio forest in that Bomba the Jungle Boy movie... -

UV Activated Glue Question
ChrisBcritter replied to Straightliner59's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
It solidifies better if you use a stronger UV light on it; also figure on holding the light over it for a few minutes rather than a few seconds. I use one of these: https://www.amazon.com/HouLight-IP65-Waterproof-85V-265V-Blacklight-Supplies/dp/B01LT53312/ -
Interesting. I'm guessing it's supposed to be a Buick engine?

UV Activated Glue Question
ChrisBcritter replied to Straightliner59's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
If you're talking about Bondic, it's heavier than water - but not quite gel consistency; it's about like clear enamel. It will self level pretty well. The commercial stuff like Alumilite UV is thicker; closer to honey. -

Excellent rescue - not easy to redo the PO's mistakes, but you nailed it! -
of Soul, James

It was included with the AMT '59 and '65 El Caminos; it was in the first issue of the '65 and the second (IIRC) issue of the '59.

What did you see on the road today?
ChrisBcritter replied to Harry P.'s topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
The car's nothing special, but the owner must have some clout: This was no place special, either - just at the local grocery store. -
