  1. '61. We had one that color with a /6 as well. This is five-year-old me with it, describing the grill opening: And little brother:
  2. And the folks at Barrett-Jackson are turning Highland Green with envy now...
  3. Because the '64 Cutlass needs too much work.
  4. As sanitary as they come, with a lot of sharp details - it's an inspiration for me to do better. Thanks for the threads!
  5. Beautiful work, Greg! Thanks for sharing it with us. Just needs one more detail: Save, reduce and print. The rear plate has the registration sticker.
  6. Food for thought, while you're at it - I found a couple side views of a real one and a model and lined them up: Definitely need to move that door jamb back a bit (1/8" at least). Jo-Han really had some problems with these - the earlier ones are even worse (the '59 Lark promo has about a 4" top chop along with the short doors).
  7. Oh - Sorry, Bill, I didn't mean Ray's master, I meant the Jo-Han/X-El original . Like how the '59-'60 Fleetwoods are shorter than 1/25.
  8. Bill, does that '58 seem to have the same shortened proportion issues the '59-'60 Fleetwoods have?
  9. On the last day of the Modelhaus Final Farewell Grand Closing Event: Tucked 'em into the '69 Corvair box; they fit the AMT 13-inch tires just fine.
  10. Aw, man - you should have told me!
  11. , Special or Roadmaster
  12. My case: in the late '70s I bought an unbuilt Revell '62 Imperial Crown and started building it. In late 1981 I moved to southern California and after the car I owned burned up, I spotted this ad in the L.A. Times: Borrowed $500 and brought it home: Next time I went back to IL on vacation, I began working on the kit again to make it look like my car. A subsequent trip later, I had it nearly done, complete with dull white paint and a dent on the passenger door where the PO had scraped against her trailer: It's sort of loosely assembled there - need to do the interior in white with worn leather and put in one raised rear window (Despite a lot of parts scrounging, I could never get more than three to work at once). The real thing got clobbered by a hit-and-run in October 1983 .
  13. Predecessor to the Frog kits, this English release of the AMT '59 Continental just sold (expensively) on eBay: Playcraft also sold the '59 Buick (convertible?), and this was probably the source of rumors that the molds are in England still.
  14. Yes sir, duly noted! First thing I looked for on the body. (I could maybe try to straighten that hood but it would just curl back up, right?)
  15. Had to wait for two trains crossing Techny Road today: So I pulled off and got a couple snaps of this: I see it in front of this body shop nearly every time I pass by there.
  16. The resin '66 Skylark landed here with a hole punched in the side of the carton - Fortunately the inner box with the kit inside was OK. Hood's warped beyond use as I expected, but the rest looks OK. Taillight lenses are molded into the rear bumper (and were too small for the bezels) so I'll work around that with resin or something.
  17. We'll see what happens - clear resin's a little tricky to work with, especially when it's dyed. Cross your fingers!
  18. All right, let's cue up Etta James singing "At Last" : NOS '63 Pontiac taillights. Looking forward to casting some copies, and unlike some people, I'll do both the right AND left ones .
  19. Nope, completely different. The only other one that should be identical would be from the AMT '59 Mercury.
  20. Got the missing rear bumper and headlights for my '62 Chrysler, three '59 Plymouth wheels, plus the back half of an original '58 Edsel hardtop that can be spliced into a builder I have that has gouged quarters. Also got several '62 Chrysler wheelcovers which I'll cut up, reshape and layer together to make a master with a more correct profile (hey, somebody's got to do it!) . Thanks Leslie P.!
  21. I was helping Leslie Piagari inventory a bunch of parts and kits today. I found a couple partial chrome trees that I recognized, thanks to this thread, as custom parts from the '63 225 and so reunited them with the rest of it. Thanks for posting the photos! Bob, I have one of those underdash A/C units from this kit - I'll look for it and see if I can cast a copy.
  22. Full disclosure: I'm proud to say I was a member of the crew that created this: A lot of silicone caulk and 23,000 mirror tiles went into it (I did most of the passenger door).
