  1. A big month indeed - Chad said "cool" exactly sixty-five times! I'll probably pick up the '32 3-window again to build it as an old hot rod (raked, with wheels from the All-Stars '40 Ford). Oddly it's always been referred to as a V8, but it's never had the V8 insignia on the headlight bar. Maybe get the Chevelle, too - put the body on an MPC Super Stocker chassis next time one gets reissued.
  2. Mark, I just reached over and checked my '66; the wheelbase is 5 1/32" - which comes to 125 25/32" in real life, so it's close.

  5. The '57 Buick promo landed today. Wasted no time dismantling it, and I'm pleased to report that the AMT promo chrome is an excellent fit on the Bichi Toys body! The AMT body was 1/4" shorter than the Argentine styrene one due to the acetate's shrinkage/warpage, but the styrene (thank goodness) chrome parts lined right up. The Bichi bumpers were not as well detailed so I'm glad this is working out. Now to find a '58 Buick interior. Oddly the AMT '58 Roadmaster chassis will have to be shortened 1/4" - not a biggie. I should start a build thread soon.
  6. Well, we've been saying for decades that the Charger had a "Coke-bottle" shape so it had to happen sooner or later.
  7. I scrolled down Revell's news page and noticed a couple interesting items: Power Putty and Repair Powder. Anyone know more about them? Wonder if the Repair Powder is CA and microballoons, or resin like acrylic nail powder?

  9. Nice to see another of these built! I have three in the to-do pile; one painted maroon from Tom P. which will be stock, another unpainted which will become a Jetstar I with the roof from the '65 Grand Prix, and a Modified Stocker. Yes, the trim and emblems are very faint, but good luck with it!

  12. '49 and '50 would need a different body for the rear quarters, which were more sloped and had a chrome strip wrapping around the fender seam.

  14. Just got a parts car for the Roadmaster, pretty cheeep: Body's got the usual issues plus glue damage, but I just wanted it for the better-detailed chrome. We'll see how it all fits the non-shrunken Argentine styrene. Wish it had the correct wheelcovers, but I do have a damaged Franklin Mint '53 Skylark I can swipe the spokers from...

  16. Managed to get a second degree burn with an Auto Cutter forty years ago - I blanked and tried to steady the blade with my thumb as I was cutting a chassis for one of my more insane projects. Oh - it was a '61 Olds F-85 wagon midengine funny car with gullwing rear doors . I kinda soured on the project after that, but waste not want not - I ended up using the rear of it to blend with a coupe body to make a baby El Camino. Maybe once I get the '65 Nova and '58 Ford out of the way I should get back on that one...

The Brewster Buccaneer/Bermuda is a favorite of mine, since I read a 1970s story in Air Classics about the discovery of the remains of five of them (former RAF trainers) out to pasture in Tullahoma, TN. The author referred to them as looking like "Mack truck dive bombers"; to me it was a tough-looking aircraft, even if it wasn't much good in reality. At least the Navy's air museum in Pensacola was willing to do an excellent restoration job on the best of the five: As new: RAF serial FF-841, nineteen away from the recovered one (FF-860).
