  1. The '60 Ford pickup arrived today; it's a bit of a gluebomb in places but savable. Don, I think you're right about the Halibrands - it also has the Impala's tires, with stick-on whitewalls, and wheel backs. Only slight tire melt, luckily.
  2. Got the '60 Ford pickup mostly dismantled and very gently removed the hood side emblems; got more to do because that glass is IN there and so is the bed floor. It's kind of a gluebomb but better than some I've seen or had/have.
  3. Nice job, and I'm intrigued by that Krylon Foil paint. Did you buff it out, or is it straight from the can?
  4. Original issue body from an eBay completed listing:
  5. Almost forgot I built this one about 40 years ago - just add narrow whitewalls, a decent BMF job, an antenna, a front plate and call it a day:
  6. Finally. From what I can tell (the phone used to take these pictures must have been composed of two Dixie Cups on a string), it's in pretty decent shape and the seller very thoroughly described its issues. It has some roof damage from gluing the glass (really looking forward to removing those windows ), but it's unpainted and complete. I do like the rake with the polished Halibrand knockoffs (anyone know what kit they're from?); I may just keep that look. Wasn't cheap, but cheaper than some I've watched lately. Now Moebius will announce a '60 F-100 pickup in 3... 2... 1...
  7. Sweet job Richard! I know it's a bit late, but I've cast some '56 Stude wheel covers, if you could use a set...
  8. Believe it or not, it's an '84 Firebird. Real nice fit and finish; it looks a lot like an Australian Ford Falcon. Check out the listing on Hemmings for more pictures: https://www.hemmings.com/classifieds/cars-for-sale/pontiac/unspecified/2360809.html?refer=blog
  9. ... are missing? Looks like your sentence was cut off. If they're gone, you could post in the Wanted section.
  10. Did you try MEK, like for gluing Plastruct?
  11. Or - Brown with a satin finish is definitely smooth: Very comfortable to wear when you're degreasing the garage floor, putting up wallpaper or just taking out the garbage.
  12. French Silk! Can't get much smoother than that - right, Brett?
  13. Mike, I have one of those in the pipeline too. Are you thinking about fixing the door pillars/window surrounds? It takes a little work but it really improves the look: Take a close look at the hood, too - it's wavy from the louver cutout lines underneath. I filled them with UV resin which made it stable enough to sand down the waves. Good luck with it!
  14. I built one as a junkyard mule years ago and put in an FE - the stock 390 engine/trans from the '61 Sunliner; I don't remember any fit problems. I'm gathering parts for a custom now; I have the Y-block from the '63 Ford pickup with a big Paxton (?) supercharger setup lined up for it. Mine's unbuilt but here's a built one:
  15. I've had one of those Pintos. It's a bit smaller than 1/25; maybe check out the rear wheels/tires from the Surfite, or some larger wheels/tires from a 1/32 scale street machine?
  16. What a happy ending for this project! Paul, do you think the master could be scanned and the model be 3-D printed, or even use the file to produce some short-run injection molds? It's definitely that good.
  17. What gauge wire is in the M.A.D. distributors? I have some 30 gauge wrapping wire I got from eBay; it seems slightly thicker than the M.A.D. stuff.
  18. Did good at the LMMCC meeting last night; won a Millennium Edition '66 Nova in the raffle (a kit I somehow never got around to building), and a near-mint PMC styrene '59 Ford Ranch Wagon body from another member (which of course is one Skyliner kit away from being a near-complete car). Also passed along a big boxful of Tom P.'s parts molds to Pedro of Page Resins; lots of little obscure bits and pieces in them.
  19. Not sure but I bet the decals were either aftermarket or from a non-AMT kit due to the film on the stars that matches their shape (most AMT kits used a continuous coat of clear film over the whole sheet). If you're careful (and lucky) you can cut the brown part away from the stars and scrape it off. Good luck and hope we see a build thread soon!
  20. Not often you see the old AMT '49 Mercs done up as oval track racers - cool!
  21. Painting the mufflers red makes them Cherry Bombs!
  22. It's not for nothing - when the model rolls off the shelf, you know more accurately how fast it went!
  23. It's a wheel used for drive tests; IIRC it shows the correct speed to check the speedometer for accuracy. It should have more spokes like a bicycle wheel; AMT based it on the '27 T/'29 A outer wheel to fit the available tire.
