  1. Excel is now X-Acto's biggest rival.
  2. "Abounds with sounds" hollered the DJ from the old AM rock station.
  3. On its way to me: '63 Falcon Craftsman, molded in a somewhat translucent red: Surprisingly, the front fender spears are unbroken, the wheels don't look tire-melted, and the windshield frame is near perfect - looks like a good builder and the price was right. Now to get some whitewalls on it... Unfortunately woke up this morning a few seconds too late to bid on one of the better '58 Bonneville hardtop builtups I've seen in the last few years - only went for $41
  4. That was my car club friend Mark Rice's ride (since sold) - it looks even better in real life!
  5. Seeing is believing, especially when it's what you want to see.
  6. I can see only a small number of old Jo-Han kits that would be potentially good sellers if they were cloned - '62 and '63 Plymouth and Dodge hardtops, the Javelin/AMX, and Maverick. All of those have had various racing applications that would lend themselves to multiple versions. At best, however, the early Mopars would only offer the bodies to clone and the rest would have to be redone to have current-style chassis, interior, and underhood/engine detail - especially for drag and NASCAR versions that would account for the most sales.
  7. Queen for a Day was a rather mawkish TV game show in which the lady with the worst sob story won a whole lot of prizes; note the reaction of this poor woman (who had seven kids and needed to spend two weeks in the hospital) when one of the prizes was (good Lord) a cat:
  8. More fun with old ads, smoke 'em if you got 'em:
  9. Yes, they're all JoHan kits. Good score!
  10. Steve G, do you think there's ANY possibility a van body could be tooled up for this kit, finally? I can't believe Round2 wouldn't get an excellent ROI on it (at least more than a cardboard phone booth).
  11. REDACTED, REDACTED, REDACTED was what I said the last time a tiny part sprang from my workbench and took a nosedive into the carpet monster.
  12. "Class... class... attention, class... class... SHADDUP!"
  13. With the AMX, why bother scanning a Jo-Han kit when they could scan an original 1/20 MPC '69 AMX and reduce the scans to 1/25? Plus it had a full-detail chassis to begin with.
  14. Good taste in cars, too. A favorite performance:
  15. Tie: 1/32 Aurora Meat Wagon and Demolition Demon. 1/24: Italeri Ferrari 275GTB coupe.
  16. 1/64th - another oddball.
  17. '57 Buick Roadmaster body in styrene. Argentine knockoff of the original AMT promo; the promo bumpers and rear trim fit well. Using '58 Buick interior and chassis. '64 Continental sedan, complete and unbuilt in the box. '67 Chevy pickup, unbuilt in box (traded off the wrecker parts).
  18. Wait, what? Never heard of such a thing but would love to know more. Can we see what's in the box pleeeeeze? Does it predate the '58 3-in-1 kits?
  19. Esteem engine is an old-fashioned way to pull a train.
