  1. It would look great parked next to my old Autocar you turned into a gem ! Thanks Gator
  2. Awesome work !! Love the work boots and scratched up torch tanks . Well done
  3. How'd I miss this ? That's fantastic work and every detail shows. Trumpeter as of lately has really brought out very detailed kits that seem to fly of the shelves . Thanks for posting this
  4. Awesome build looks perfect and mean in black
  5. Thanks all ! I appreciate all the feedback. KJ let me know the wrecker cab is actually a set back E model, and the kit is a forward axle...I won't be hacking into the frame at this point . Artistic license card pulled for now .
  6. How about another update ? Too soon ??okay I'll wait.... The am parts arrived today, so the cab started getting the treatment. First off is a new fantastic 3d printed grill from double take.. Next to the kit offering ..I won't mention how uninspiring the chrome lump compares to the 3d printed one.. I marked up the spots I wanted to address, mainly the switch to oblong lights, lowering the right vent , and removal of the vertical riveted strip . The KW I'm working on has a horizontal rivet strip running under doors to grill . The vent is just lower closer to light bezel. progress moved along fairly quickly one side cleaned up and the lower cab panels were glued in. The new riveted panel will run nearly over the offending seam. I'll replace the lost rivets w resin ones from archer..the simplest way I've found . They attach like a decal, and look perfect under paint imo. More to come
  7. Man those are some beautiful trucks Love the red custom pete with the small recovery hoist on the rear
  8. Lol I think I got caught fibbing , my record for leaving a kit OOB is definitely worse than the Cleveland Browns
  9. Thanks Kerry ! I actually ordered both sets to assure coverage lol just received the shipping notice from Jerry Thanks Brian, I appreciate the comments . The Holmes is really a fun wrecker to fabricate, deciding between the lattice type boom or plain round tube drove me nuts for a couple days. I used a side panel off the " big stick " pete to set the wheel openings then just scribed the new doors,,something ya could definitely handle. if ya like , I kept the sheets from mine id be happy to copy for ya to build your own
  10. Very cool project jim hope ya continue the build
  11. Update time !! Small details I've been ignoring long enough , figure today was a good time to start them . The right side cab door on papa truck was missing the lower window..my build is an E model cab , so I used the mk 1 eye to guessimate where it was. Drill a couple holes in the corners sand sorta square ..done stamp Peeking in the corner of the pic was the other "major" detail I wanted to work on, the light bar . Grab a stick of 1/8 rod , bend and heat..throw away start w a new rod...round 2 was gtg how about the tail lights..the kit ones definitely won't work...I just doodled them in then drilled / filed them . Really rough right now.. Full dress rehearsal. .. stay tuned just ordered the bj bear deacls set from jerry, modern marker lights from moluminum, and a new updated 3d printed grill from kj..getting close to primer
  12. Yeah love the way the autocar and trailer turned out..glad ya turned the truck into a logger had I kept it the poor thing would've ended up another mixer or wrecker lol
  13. Thanks alot ! I've been really slacking lately w these arctic temps
  14. Thanks everyone Glad I could jog the ol memory for ya kerry ! I can wander into the hobby store buy a bagful then driving home remember I never bought what I originally went after ..thankfully the online shops help
  15. Looks great Tom ! Bet your glad to have it finished up since 14 Now where ya gonna find room in the case for that ...hmmm
  16. Stunning work ! Looks great from here
  17. How about a small peek at progress I needed to fab a 3rd boom section since the challenge kit only had 2 , glued couple sections of gw frame rails together and bobs my uncle ( he actually is..lives down south lol ) The cable guides and boom end from the kit was attached to 3rd section , altering as needed . Afew small details were added to the drum winch , punched discs for eventual hydraulic hoses , and even the small data plate on the frame from scrap. Still needs the bolts to liven things up, probably just dots of thick CA That's about it for now any criticism welcome
  18. Thanks Dr kerry ! I steal a few minutes to bash while daughter takes her nap, then back to getting chased around house ! Now she's running daddy runs out of diesel early . Thanks Warren !
  19. I'd love to build one right oob but the sky high prices keep me away, it'd be nice to have it back in circulation Course there are ways of building this mixer thru the aftermarket. ..jerry has the decals, aitm has the challenge mixer and the truck could be sourced fairly easily. ..but the box art is so riveting
  20. Looks great you definitely turned that truck into a show piece !! Wow the headache rack fit really well holding up the dolly . Now I gotta start one of the trade kits as well Again excellent work
  21. Looks good jim knew ya needed a quick build after the IVECO Pardon my ignorance but what's USFS
