Thanks ! Yeah I need to clean up the separation lines once they dry more . The tamiya paints dry quicker , and using few drops of thinner kept the paint flowing..sometimes with a mind of it's own lol

Heres where I hit the wall..not building many cars, I dont have the eye for colors that work w each other...a quick text to my buddy Tbill, and i had a few ideas. Originally a tan accent was planned, but screwing around with a mix of red and white ...i had this salmon color hmm ....Tbill liked it and our daughter gave me the thumbs up so I was off and painting. Now the big test..what's it gonna look like in the car..and the engine together That's it for now ! Any comments or suggestions welcome ! Jeff

I picked up this kit awhile ago waiting for inspiration to strike , and I finally got around to building it. Wandering thru the lhs w our 4 yr old daughter, she started playing w paint cans..noticing they were shades of pink....I'm building it for her ! The builds gonna be straight oob, just a fun build while I wait for parts to arrive for the oshkosh plow. She kept picking up a certain can..it matched her coat...and we decided that was perfect. Testors electric pink lacquer w wet look clear ! A quick cleanup of the fine molding lines, and bath in dish soap..and it headed to the booth! 3 light coats later it was laying down perfect and even..the rounded body lines on this model really showed off the raspberry colors and flake in the paint. I let it rest a few minutes before getting cleared ..then took outside for a look in natural light I planned a light interior, settling on tamiya white primer, that seems to dry w a nice sheen. I stuck the primed tub in the drying body to check contrast.. More to come!

Nice and flat Theres been a few builds where I've used a small line level to assure frames are correct , doesnt hurt to check..now the wheels will sit on ground ! -
Truly fantastic news that Ryan was able to walk out of the hospital under his own power 2 days after his crash. The photo of him smiling at the hospital w his 2 daughters before being released really are emotional

Nice change !!!! I agree with your assessment about the kfs axle being 1/24 , I tried using it under my Oshkosh, the track was also wide. His website does specify scale, but I didnt realize it would be that dramatic. Your sag should certainly look spot on after a healthy load of logs are added ! -
I was going to suggest " airplane tissue " or silkspan..mostly used as a covering on model airplanes . Our lhs used to carry the stuff, worked excellent for tarps and such. Thinned white glue would bond it to your project

Thanks everyone I appreciate the feedback These builds are so fun and challenging , they really keep me motivated. Theres plans in motion to scratchbuild the Sicard BX snowblower that's frequently seen moving huge amounts of snow ... -

Teenie tiny update, the Micromark chain / sprockets arrived , and I was blown away how perfect they would work..literally. I took a section of 1/ 8 tube, bored it out for a smaller driveshaft, and slid on the 8 tooth gears..easy peasy !!! I attached the gearbox before painting I decided on an older, aged color for the conveyor chain, mixing steel and burnt metal metalizer and spraying it thru my airbrush . Feeding the chain thru the hopper was a breeze...getting both sides even was entertaining...one or 2 links off ...but in the end, it lined right up. now to add the paddles..an easy chore w my mini chopper . After they're installed, the hopper is ready to mate up w the chassis. I played around adding the cab lights , door handles , grab bars and scratched a set of wipers ( not in pic ) . I ordered a bunch of spot lights from moluminum, once they arrive..the project will be finished! Oh almost forgot ..a great suggestion by Tbill, I made up the rebound springs on the plow from fine copper wire, and attached to spare rod ends from rb motion. Braided fish line and craft chain worked perfect for the cables on the side board wing too !!! ok now were all caught up!!! -

BRBO 2020 Pete wrecker rebuild
gotnitro? replied to DrKerry's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment
The Roos look much better now , very well done ! Easier taking length off than adding it..major reason I suck at carpentry..i tend to measure once and buy 5 more boards lol For the side ya might try taking about half the height off , still keeping the original look just shorter ? Looking at my Holmes, theres just a small kick up in front , leaving room for the booms to swing outward Not sure where the original winch box attached, but if its reasonable, holes could be covered w equipment? Hookers carry all kinds of stuff...hey now easy squirrels..may be opportunity to add a spot for extra recovery gear -

Definitely like the accumulated mud !!! Would those rims have the wires inside to clear the mud out ?I've seen them used on swamp loggers , assume that's their purpose. Be a cool detail to add to an already awesome build
