Nicely done! That is a great kit as a slump buster. I enjoyed very much building mine.

This is an odd selection for this topic, but because of the cost of fuel now I wouldn't drive the 70 SS454 Chevelle I had in the eighties. There is no way I could afford to drive that thing now except down the street and back as I think I got about 8 MPG. It had a 750 double pumper Holley, 10:1 compression, and 4:11 gears. I did swap out the solid lifter cam for a Competition Cams hydraulic, which helped a whole lot, but it also resulted in higher true compression because of the improved low speed fuel flow, which forced me to add water injection to stop detonation. But man, that thing was a beast! I could smoke the tires from idle. But, it was also an accident magnet (other people kept hitting it, not me hitting others), which is why I got rid of it. I'll be building a replica of it based on how it looked about the time I got rid of it, minus the dents, tho.

A day late but I'm posting my "new" workshop and workbench. Still lots of organizing to do but I'm happy to finally have a single place to work. I'll be able to get back to my Club DeMer for the Cannonball Run now.

Very nicely done! Good story too. I replicated my brother's Chevelle but had no pics to reference like that. Awesome!

Switching to CAD design has allowed me to indulge my love of automobiles during times when I'm having trouble with a build like I am now with my Club DeMer. Here is a prototype of a Y-block engine I'm working on. I like to use my FDM printer to print parts until I get them finalized, as its cheaper and cleaner than resin. My wife bought me the FDM when I first started talking about getting one and I still use it even though I have a small resin printer. You can see that the oil pan is just a tad too long, so I'll tweak the design and shorten it up. The supercharger is just glued there for effect, but it was tough to draw, and while it doesn't exactly match a 1:1, I'm happy with it. Thanks Sledsel for the link of the design for the intake hat. I changed it to front intake to work with the Paxton. The front cover was no picnic either, and I really modeled it to be closer to an AMT kit front cover than the complex 1:1 cover. Since these aren't primo designs, I may make the files available no cost.

I imagine an I-beam resin axle wouldn't sag easily. They are stronger by nature of their design.

Awesome work! I loved that car when it came out.

TinkerCad? Do you use it or other free 3D?

Absolutely ll of my files worth using are public. Under search select "People", "drayneal". -
Anyone ever "split" a body for 3D printing?
MeatMan replied to MrObsessive's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
I use Meshmixer for the last two I did. Its free and it will also detect issues in the file & you can save both sides in the same file. -

Please understand that with water washable resin you should not wash it directly into the drain, as it is toxic to the environment. Water used for washing resin parts should be cured under sunlight or a UV light until the resin in it solidifies, then you may pour it out. I drain mine into a juice bottle and set it outside when its above freezing, or use my UV light for when its freezing outside. I hope everyone that uses water washable resin is doing this!
