Man this is looking really good Andy. I can't get over the detail and painting quality. Over the past year I finally got my method down to painting car bodies and it's EXACTLY how you're doing it with that Badger 350. I don't really use a double action airbrush but a Badger 200 single action instead for the small stuff. With both of those at my disposal I can do pretty much whatever I need to with auto builds.

Revell '41 Willys "Demon II"-Now Under Glass...

Preciate it Jeremy! I removed the soda bottle from the passengers cup holder and glued a piece of black sheet styrene on the bottom of the interior tub at that location to simulate that little black foam pad that's usually at the bottom of cup holders. I may put a bottle cap opener in there as well. After adding the floor mats, blue seat belts and some other details like the magazine and bottle cap opener on top of the magazine, I think I've broken up the color pattern somewhat. I managed to sneak in a black demons head in between the seat. I had the choice of black or white but chose the subtle route. The interior color layout was a brainstorm of ideas I came up with so I really had no reference for it. Just vision. Still gotta pick out a few details like some switches and all but I've got it about where I want it. I also still have to install the accelerator and brake pedals, shifter lever and fire extinguisher to complete the base tub. To recap....Before: After: -

Good lookin' build so far Mike! These were a "dime a dozen" back in the day. It's a true rarity to see one nowadays. -
Good lookin' engine so far. Where's the transmission coming from?

Thanks for the added info there Hakan. I'm assuming that the added smaller line is for a pressure gauge or fuel return line? -

LOL! I understand Joel. In the picture I provided, the fuel supply line comes up out of the inner fender and into the fuel distribution block. It splits off at the block and the two supply lines go to each carburetor. -

I can't really make out ALL the details from that picture but here is a photo of a similar one that I took at the dragstrip in San Antonio off of a Belvedere -

No trouble at all bud. The braided fuel lines are leading to a fuel distribution block on the drivers side inside fender. The ignition coil wire exits the center of the distributor cap and leads down to the ignition coil which in this case is the black box with a red label with blue lettering on it on the front of the L/H cylinder head. -

I'll agree with Mike. That's a really good effort for the trial run. That last wire goes to the ignition coil which mounted on the front of the L/H cylinder head. You've got your fuel lines routing out of the coil and leading to the carburetors. Your fuel line should come out of the pump and route up beside the ignition coil and then to the carburetors. You have your fuel line coming out of the pump and going into the ignition coil. I will say that overall your model looks good so far though bud. -
Revell '41 Willys "Demon II"-Now Under Glass...
mustang1989 replied to mustang1989's topic in WIP: Model Cars
Thanks Dennis. Mine were like that in some of my past builds and I wanted a more realistic touch to them so starting with my "Demon II" F-100 build I started routing the ignition cables a lot more carefully and uniformly. Seems to tidy things up a bit in the engine compartment. The beginnings of the interior construction are under way. Here's the progress on the door panels. I mixed up some dark grey and thinner and outlined all the recessed areas so when I shot the white over the door panels it would make those areas stand out a little more. A pre-shading of sorts. I found a piece of adhesive backed blue metallic sheet that I applied and cut out around the edges for a neat and clean door insert panel. Then I masked off and painted the door speaker grilles black. I did the same thing with the seats as I did with the door panels on pre-shading all the cracks and crevices with a dark gray, then a medium coat of white followed by a coat of semi-gloss clear. I'm trying to accent the blue lightly throughout the interior without overdoing it. Keep in mind that the seat belts and dash will be blue as well. I had some soda bottles so I drilled two holes to simulate cup holders and slipped a couple of sodas in the center console. Window switch and shifter bezels were picked out with Chrome BMF. There'll be some more blue in here to balance things out colorwise as it's waaaaaaaaaaaay too bright in there right now with no contrasting. Radio face with CD halfway out of the slot will be going on the blue panel at the front of the console. Weird how Revell didn't have a decal slide or radio face molded on it. -
As smooth as it is , a gloss coat will look perfect on it.

Having the tools and the "know how" goes a loooooooooong ways. Looks like you've got both down pat.

Thanks James, Dave and Guido. I dry brushed on a little ground up brown pastel to tone the plug wires down for a little more realistic look. I've still got a little tweaking to do and one throttle return spring to install on the rear carburetor but here's the fruits of today's labor: -
Nice work and great ideas in motion.

Smooth paint John!
