Wheel source for a 1937 wrecker
misterNNL replied to misterNNL's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Yes,that's the one I have,and I agree it's very cool indeed. -
I receintly was able to acquire a long out of production resin cast wrecker kit made by the late Ron Cash from Ohio. The kit is a replica of a real wrecker known as Tug Boat Annie. It was custom built for a towing service co.in Mn in 1937 and took it's name from a then popular radio show of the same name. I would like to find wheels and tires for this build that at least look similar to those on the real truck. As I do not have the skills to post photos here I would suggest that one might Google the real truck to see what wheels and tires I am talking about. Thanks for any help you can give !

ProSleeper
misterNNL replied to cargostar's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment
Beautiful piece. Will this require a lengthened frame to accommodate this sleeper ? -
Please do not throw in the towel on this build. There is a lot of hard work and positive progress thus far and I for one am looking forward to seeing it completed.

If there's any place to learn new techniques and find answers to literally any modeling question that you may have these forums are the absolute best place to hang out. -
Nothing like a little gatling gun action to clear out crowded intersections.

Very impressive set of classic vehicles Howard. Did the museum restore them or were they restored by collectors and them loaned ?

I spoke with Don and Carol personally last week and they are nearing the end of the line for filling the orders received two years ago when they announced their retirement. NO they do not have a buyer for their business yet. I personally wish them the best with their retirement . Super people who produced a Top quality line of model car products I seriously doubt we will ever see the likes of again in our lifetime.

Well put Bill. We all have different talents wether we realize them or not. If you can recognize those try to put them to the best possible use. If you're a model builder then build what you like as you prefer to see it built. If you like to sing, join a choir. If you simply love children, be a volunteer mentor at a local school. I do all three and certainly enjoy all three.

Boxes for 1/25 collection
misterNNL replied to mikemich's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
No matter what boxes you use for storing your collection be sure to store those boxes in low heat and humidity conditions. I have some boxes that were stored in an attic for 50 years(yes I said 50 years) and the kit boxes became brittle, the decals and any tissue paper simply crumbled when touched. Just a word of caution might save a lot of grief later. -
Old AMT Kit Instruction Sheets
misterNNL replied to VW93's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I worked as a draftsman for a few years in the '60's producing engineering drawings and remember that revisions to a particular drawing were each given a suffix behind the number. The first revision was dash "A", the next dash "B" and so on. This was all if course before anything digital was ever conceived so the smallest drawing was a 9" x 12" which was a size "A" twice that a "B" size and on and on. The file drawers were these were only made to accommodate the "A" size so all larger drawings were all folded and filed numerically accordingly. Oh the good old days when we used T squares and electric erasers! -
The fin on the console is a neat addition to your interior.

I was able to reach the people involved in running this show and will post the information here when I receive their vendor sign up sheet in the mail.

I am trying to find contact information about the river's edge model car show in Indiana inMay of this year. I would like to get a vendor's table but can't find this one on line. There was a phone number posted on facebook but that was answered by a real elderly lady who had no clue what I was asking about. Any help greatly appreciated !

I personally like this one a lot. Let your imagination loose and see where it takes you! Thanks for sharing.

I am surprised that after using those clever templates the fender profiles made from photos of the real car would be anything less than perfect. I of course trust your eye and judgment but I was wondering how that would be anything less than a perfect method. Just curious.
