  1. The winner will quietly move an hour away in a nice house but not 10,00 square feet. They can just say they did well investments and just live like the neighbors and not outspend them. Of course they would get the best security system nad maybe even have someone watch the house while they are away.
  2. So glad to hear of your sons progress. My daughter and three friends car flipped over a slick highway (the driver fell asleep) and two girls were unscathed, one had facial injuries and broken bones and my daughter had a lot of cuts and bruises and a concussion but under the circumstances I consider her lucky to be alive after being ejected out the rear window. We got the call from the police at 4am and they did tell me she was okay knowing it was going to take two hours to drive to see her and the others. The seriously injured girl recovered after surgeries and rehab and it's four years after now and it's a day I'll never forget. Take one day at a time and faith will get you though this rough time.
  3. Yeah I just noticed them. They are hideous. Not much better on the Pantera.
  4. I'd buy a nicer House and perhaps a property further north for summers and further south for winters. I would help my kids with a large down payment but expect some of their income go to supporting themselves. Giving them evertyhing would be a big mistake. They have no debt (college or cars) and are graduating soon. But before they enter the workforce we would travel to England (Goodwood) and France (Lemans) and throw in Monte Carlo and rent a yatch to watch the F1 race. A month trip to Australia would be nice with side trips to New Zealand and Japan and Hawaii. After we got tired of travel I'd buy about seven cars (Pantera, GT40, 67 Eleanor, 68 Bullitt, 69 Shelby, Boss 351 and Daytona Cobra Coupe) with a state of the art garage. I'd hit up BJ, auctions, Daytona 500, Monterey, Woodward, and Knots Berr Farm and many other shows. I would go to all the major model car contests and buy a few kits I do not have now. Since the chances of this happening are zilch, I hope to at least do some of these things in retirement but I might be staying in the Motel 6 and dining at 7-11 and not staying in five star hotels. As for charities, I have pretty good insight to their expense ratios so I would choose wisely when donating to them. I like the show undercover boss when peoples lives are made a lot better with an amount of money that is much less than many people make in 3 months.
  5. Pretty hard to find an original one these days. Well - except for yesterday.
  6. Picked this up for $10 at a car show. Anyone build it and if so what was your impression?
  7. I saw the Boss 351 @ an auction and decided do to that special order color for 1971.
  8. Did I miss any colors? I have four bodies left plus the Minuteman drag car. I am thinking a lighter metallic blue, Lime green, silver and perhaps a medium green.
  9. Very clean work. If it's not too late you can paint the alternator silver or steel with some copper dabbed in. The gas tank would usually be steel. There are so many pictures online to refer to for painting ideas if you are going for a factory stock look.
  10. Looks good from here.
  11. Nice build and agree on the color choice.
  12. You better hurry the display ends today. It has been there since May.
  13. This should help. It's at the AACA museum in Hershey.
  14. I saw the real one yesterday.
  15. When it comes to trim (like around a windshield I use the pen for one swipe and then do touch up (by dabbing the pen on some plastic and using a fine tip brush) when I did not get al the way to the edge. Even with the fine tip pen it is difficult to get a perfect line but as other have said masking can help out there. When I compare the pen to regular silver paint there is no comparison.
  16. Probably help some folks if we had a picture. Norman Veber of R&M of MD in flannel shirt and Bill in the gray shirt.
  17. 20 years on Ebay and Paypal with no payment issues or fraud etc.. It is riskier to use a credit card or pay by check these days. It's not like you are asking them to buy bitcoins or other crypto currencies.
  18. Good price on Ebay. It's an older kit so supply would be limited to dealers and individuals. You could try Model Empire. I have been on Ebay 20 years and have had very few problems (usually from buyers and not sellers). Your parents are probably younger than me so they probably have a Paypal account.
  19. You got that right. Maybe $170.
  20. It is probably easier to just buy the Monogram 65 R model kit and use that one. HRM (Historic Racing Miniatures) may still make the part too.
  21. Love to see pictures as stuffing any Ford big block into a Mustang II is pretty unusual.
  22. Very nice attention to detail. Screens, gas overflow vent tube ( I assume) , etc.
  23. I was thinking Maserati too. There is a curbside resin kit of the Coupe by Fatory Hiro in 1/24.
  24. Learn something new every day. That car is beautiful. We need a model of one. Was it the ACE II? Looks like a MG and Jag mishmash.
