  1. Other than that I do not see the different color markings on the leaf springs and driveshaft, it is a spectacular build. Of course I kidding about the markings - you only see them on concour and thoroughbred real restorations. Same goes for the yellow "OK" on the valve covers and other stamps and stickers.
  2. See this website for the differences.
  3. Welcome. Do you build 1/43 models? Is Starter still in business?
  4. Pretty much, The MarkI's have a few different parts besides the body. I have almost all the variations.
  5. Now we're talkin., It seems like with an extra 45 hours a week some building should get done. How else did we work AND get all that other stuff done AND have time to build a little.
  6. Glad to hear you are building more and maybe you will be one of the few to make a dent in building all the kits that have found their way into your abode. . Most of us will need to build a kit a month for 15 years just to have a prayer of building them all. I don't even know many kits I have - maybe 250 give or take.
  7. Cool build, especially the bare metal foil. Maybe add a Fred Cady 289 decal on the air cleaner.
  8. Given the campiness of the tv show it's no worse than the Mstery Machine or Flintsones car. I'll give it a POW, BAM and a THUD.
  9. You can collect Socail Security at 62, you just collect less per month than waiting until later. My father died at 59 so he got nothing expect I guess my mom got some survivor benefits and my brother died at 57.. I do not plan to wait untill 66 or 65 or 64 or 63. Think about what you are NOT collecting sooner than later and the way it works is you will not catch up for those four years (62 to 66.8) until you're in your 80's.. Something to think about.
  10. Imagine if they did actual old car colors to match the actua models made in spray cans. I bet they would sell alot more. It's great they did Ford Grabber blue and green and other Mopar and GM factory colors but a lot more would be nice.
  11. I am about a year away from retiring @ 61 and I hope to devote at east a few hours a day to building. I'm build in spurts and sometimes go for weeks wthout building as in the evening I just want to chill. I think you are being very realistic and if you have a plan for what will happen with your built kits then you're good. I watch these pickers shows where people have acres worth of mostly junk yet they can't even part with anything well into to their 80's. Sad and stupid and the heirs get stuck with selling or disposing 95% of the trash/treasure.
  12. Everyone has a price. I'd sell the car I've had since 1981 if the offer was ridulous enough. It's pretty hard to rationalize keeping a hunk of steel that is worth 100 mores than a similar one that was not in a famous movie unless you a just not a fan of money. Sure money isn't everything but to get enough to pay off a house, pay for kids college and and maybe help out your parents versus having a car should be an easy choice. The son is enjoying an all expenses paid road trip touring with the car but the excitement will were off. I read about this car 20+ years ago when a person that was supposed to keep any details secret did say he say the car and that the owner wanted it to remain in hiding (for whatever reason). Now the son has done pretty much the exact opposite which is a lot better that's lettting it rot away unseen. Just my opinion of course but I'm probably not in the minority in my view.
  13. The prepainted figure came with I think the 1/32 Corgi diecast.
  14. The McQueen family has tried to buy the car back from the owner going back to the 80's when the owner was not really a secret. It was in hiding for decades until Ford made an offer the owners son could not refuse. The father did not realize the gold mine he was sitting on or did not care - not sure which. Either Ford will buy it eventually or it will go to auction and the seller could buy every year Mustang ever made to be able to drive a different one every week assuming he had a place to store them all.
  15. Not a build but I guess he liked #21. He signed my Mustang Race Cars book at Carlisle a few years ago. RIP David.
  16. I'm sure the Marti reports and Eminger invoices would show what the cars came with if it was an extra cost or standard option. The VIN's have been authenticated and we know one car was left for scrap and the other one was modified by a few owners becasue they were just used cars worth a little more than a non movie one. Fifty years later they are worth seven figures easy.
  17. My bad. They are pretty close though.
  18. Found this slide from March 1976.
  19. You could always do a what it looks like now version and you will just have to replicate rusty and faded Ivy green.
  20. In the old days disgraced executives in Japan would commit suicide to save the family more embarassment. We'll see how this ends.
  21. Agree on the color being correct - good choice. Not sure what I was thinking when I built mine but it was 25 years ago. No idea how I got the decals to lay flat - my guess it a wet towel pressing down on them on piece at a time. Here is the view from the inside.
  22. Yes Factory five. That was a parade I was in about three years ago. The next year I was Darth Vader.
  23. Thanks so much for scanning and posting the slides. I built the Chevelle (not a Mustang ) and the 1/43 tractor trailer with the slot car in back.
  24. There really is no IF in your question.
  25. Several 2006 GT's on Ebay right now for under $20.
