(HRM) Shelby Cobra Daytona Coupe
vamach1 replied to Venom's topic in WIP: Other Racing: Road Racing, Land Speed Racers
I was not sure of the make since my Japanese reading level is zero. ? I send a friend request via Facebook to YABUKI who wrote the article. Maybe his English is better than my Japanese. -
(HRM) Shelby Cobra Daytona Coupe
vamach1 replied to Venom's topic in WIP: Other Racing: Road Racing, Land Speed Racers
Here are some pages from a Japanese model car magazine from I am guessing the 1990’s. It appears to be a modified Gunze kit. The side windows look like what you are trying to replicate. -
Who can make decal copies?

If that is a Round2 kit you can order extra sets them directly from them if you have the kit UPC code. -
Gunze Sanyo Cobra Daytona Question
vamach1 replied to Ralph Henderson's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
I assume that was before Brad did a full kit. I have some resin parts that are copies of the rubber parts but not sure where those came from. Anyway, the full HRM kit is still available and does not cost much more these days than just the original Gunze on Ebay. -
1966 Ford J Car Prototype
vamach1 replied to Gramps46's topic in WIP: Other Racing: Road Racing, Land Speed Racers
Here is a 1/43 kit I built many years ago. It is made by Sapphire. I would agree the slot car looked a little too wide in the front. -
1966 Ford J Car Prototype

No surprise there. I think DDP did a resin J car but since I built the IMC and MPC ones that was enough for me. ? -

Great build as always Gramps. It’s not too often you see this kit built and the other X-1 resin transkit built. As I mentioned before I wish I had bought more of the Lemans Miniatures ones to go along with the “larger” ? resin kits. I had not noticed some details you picked up like the unpainted parts of the interior and the “passenger” seat without the cooling ringlets. -
Looking good. The hood looks nice with the vents that are not supposed to be there you filled in. ?

Nice scores. I think at one time an autographed FM GT350 was selling for $400 that came with a few extras. ? I opted to get the Revell one despite the odd scale to go along with the red 427 Cobra.

The original box is pretty cool. There was also a Reggie Jackson version molded in green probably around the same time.

Gunze Sanyo Cobra Daytona Question
vamach1 replied to Ralph Henderson's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Were you h***5 ? I won it on January 28th by ten cents over only one other bidder. The $10 shipping seemed pretty excessive though so it ended up costing $32 just for the sheet. Good luck on your build. -
Gunze Sanyo Cobra Daytona Question
vamach1 replied to Ralph Henderson's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Very nice build. I scored an extra photo etch set from Ebay just in case I lost parts on my build which will probably happen at some point. The wipers were not on chassis 2299 when it was photographed so that’s why they did not end up being included in the Gunze model. -
What scale and manufacturer are these????
vamach1 replied to grant_3250's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Aside from the junkyard diorama idea you may be able to part them out. The Mustang has two piece wheels with the outer half made of metal which is unusual for that scale. Unfortunately the tires tended to dry out and crumble as shown in your pictures. -
Very nice. That is the body that I used the hood that I cut out to have copies made to do a standard 71-73 Mustang hood. Come to think of it that body might make a good substitute for the MPC out AMT kit to do a road racer. I have never tried to see if the “stocK” chassis would fit.

"Bring Out Your Dead" Completion Build--ROUND 2 Is On!
vamach1 replied to Snake45's topic in WIP: Model Cars
Throwing this out there as the next one I started and will shoot to finish by the end of April. Let’s just say it’s not going to be the same old same old Eleanor color. -
The 67/68 AMT Mustangs have a much better 289/302 engine as does the Monogram 65-66 Mustangs and may fit the Monogram Cobra okay.
-
Looks good from here Ray. Have you ever tries to put in the Monogram or AMT 289 engines in one of these kits or even a 5.0? The Factory Five “427” kit Cobra I owed had a 302. Most of the kit cars you see on the road do not have a Ford big block.

Very realistic looking diorama and tribute to those brave Americans. Somewhere on my computer is a picture of some of the remaining members next to my Mustang convertible they rode in the parade in DC a few years ago. This poster they signed is on my garage wall.

Does a garage for diecast count? Here’s a Gulf gas station from China in 1/64 scale. Easy to assemble with super glue. Only complaint is the outside back wall is not painted and the ends of the two walls that connect to the front. It is sold on Ebay and came with a fiber optic light but no battery. As this in my 2nd Gulf garage I need to get some more Gulf mechanics and a lift and more shop stuff.

vamach1 replied to Gramps46's topic in Other Racing: Road Racing, Salt Flat Racers
Here is the Renaissance kit which is very nice and three pictures of the Nakamura kit on Ebay for $200. These are about the only options other than the old MPC and IMC/Testors kits. -
Looking forward to the newest issue (my first as a new subscriber). Any word yet on when the last two issues (print or digital) will be available?

I like I more than the Foose versio, especially the wheels. Nice job.

Looks fantastic Gary. You are finishing some great models these days. I wish I could get some more done but the chores never end. I added a picture I just saw online that I had not seen before.
