Good looking model. greg

I have discovered the Tamiya glue and now combine half and half Tamiya and Weld On3 for the best of two worlds, Still get capillary action and stickiness and slower set up of the Tamiya glue. greg

Answer to both replies: I should have waited longer for paint to dry. I used arcylic paint from bottle. Lesson learned. greg

I'm working on a p51 Mustang and painted the landing gear with Tamiya aluminum and then used Molotaw chrome to do the cylinder part and the pen over the aluminum never really dried. It became soft and melted into the paint when I touched it. Anybody else have this happen? greg

This one was built years ago, lots of evergreen plastic. curbside with no details. 72nd 1/F4phantom wheels for dolly. Nice to have cad this was done with T square and triangles. I think there are after market steps that are available instead of the round over the road tanks. The gas v8 from the C Cab kit will fit. greg

1/25 AMT Surf Shark 1959 Cadillac Ambulance
GLMFAA1 replied to Casey's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
Glass tree even has the lines in the window for the stripe tinting as the Ecto and the lens covers for the light bars. Never seen such flasher pods on '59 caddy meat wagons. If they got the flashers pods from the MPC 1/20 Ford Econoline ambulance parts would have been better. Why not just throw in the "surf' trees in the Ecto kit and call it a 2n1. Better yet add rear quarter window panels with landau irons and make the interior bucket 2 piece (stock and Ghostbuster rear) and make it a 3n1. greg -

Clever idea that should work on any raised item.ie dash knobs, lug nuts, etc. What I was thinking is using Elmer's glue on scripts, let dry, peel off and fill recess in glue with Molotaw ink wipe excess let tack up and then place glue back over script and release ink onto model script. I haven't tried it so if there are some experimenters out there have at it. greg

OPINIONS WANTED: Autopsied the Welly kit and surprised that it was as close to the Revel scale. Have found out that the front seats will work also. Upon inspection of pictures I have of the DIP Land Rover the hood is actually dimpled where the Welly model is raised. Now what do I do? Has anyone had a problem with the wheel/tires being centered in the wheel wells? I have several plans: 1. Cut the die cast front and transplant it to the Revell. 2. Make a mold of the die cast front, the make casting to clip to front of Revell kit. 3. Use parts and make parts to front end of a defender. Picture: I can cut the clip at the windshield frame and rework the inside to accommodate the kits details Picture 2 Kit hood and Welly Hood Picture 3: Welly hood overhang that would match to radiator shell. Cast or hand made. Picture 4: Hood choses, stock, welly or hand made Picture 5: Welly wheels and tires on Revell Kit greg

MODEL SUPPLIES: Went to my local plastic dealer/ to get some WeldOn3. I use it for my glueing as it set quickly and has good flow. I usually get a pint can and it lasts me a long time, loose more through evaporation then use. He told me he only had the 4 oz cans and that it cost $26.00. I got one can and he also stated the pint can is around $50.00. I was disappointed at such a price hike. When I got home, I did a little surfing and found same product on Walmart and Amazon at much cheaper prices. Maybe the dealer should try another jobber. greg

Autocar, Caterpillar D8 lowboy combo
GLMFAA1 replied to happy grumpy's topic in Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment
Nice looking combination. Hope you're not finished as it needs chained down, wide load signs and flasher(s). Did you burn up the c&c machine with all those holes? That's one of the things the kit needs, the others are a good grille more rippers and different treads. greg -
UPDATE: Have roof rack brackets being 3d printed, I got a Welly 1/24 defender in die cast, so this gives me the wheels, wider tires, new dashboard, mud flaps and rear fender flairs since Welly sides are plastic, Has anyone ever mated a die cast clip to a plastic model body? I'm experimenting with using the front Defender clip to the Revell Body. I will lose the engine bay, The only problem is the diecast hood has a bubble in the middle of it, I might try to make a hood with out a bubble. greg

Where is the raincoat and cigar? Hope there are other names on the decal sheet. They named a ship after me? greg -
MPC 1/20 Highjacker 4x4 van
GLMFAA1 replied to Mike C.'s topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
Getting back to the model, What body is that van? The 1/20th MPC? To Mike: Why not on their side like wine bottles in a cool cellar then rotate them, you could even automate that? greg- 69 replies

MPC 1/20 Highjacker 4x4 van
GLMFAA1 replied to Mike C.'s topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
Upside down paint bottle isn't a bad idea, seals cap with paint so air can't get in, easier to mix with solid going to bottom when inverted to use. Like a Heinz ketchup bottle, greg- 69 replies

Interesting when doing research there was a comment that the Land Rover never broke down. They did an upgrade or got another one because pictures vary with license plates and wheels. Only original is the Land Rover, even the Royal Enfield changed. Anyone have a suggestion for the light bar brackets? Has anyone ever made the decals they would like to share? greg
