  1. That grille is similar to a Wheeled Coach. Probably a Johnny Lightning Coke van as donor mold master. Don't know of WC putting deck plate on roof it seems it would make it even more top heavy than they were. greg
  2. I'm somewhat out of my realm. Building a 2003 Anniversary Corvette. I have the 1998 pace car kit. Now big question I have seen while searching references that some have a body seam on the side coming from the scoop and fading in the back and then some plan sided which one would be the anniversary? Would I be better off getting the snap 2005 kit? Does any one make the anniversary emblems or detail set (wheels) for the Corvette? greg
  3. The company was Miller Meteor. When I started in ambulance work the company had conversion hearses. The hearse consisted of the side panels that went on with knurled screws and clips, the casket rollers were in the floor some had removable casket rollers. electronic siren control head (Federal PA 20s) were kept under the dash along with the Motrac radio and light switch. To make an ambulance you removed the side panels, placed carpet in the back. The cot bar was always in the unit. you put the casket stop in the floor trunk. put in a cot, first aid equipment, and we used Federal TwinSonics that fastened to the gutters above the windows and had plugs for the lights and the siren speakers (converted trailer connection). Unfold the jump seat. You had your city map on the seat and billing sheets and you were ready to go. If anyone is interested in real hearses and ambulance a good reference is the Professional Car Society .https://professionalcarsociety.org/ greg
  4. Nice glass case, In this economy keep an eye out for store closings as they will be selling the fixtures to gain some cash. Drug stores have fine pharmaceutical shelving that fit models well. I have acquired shelving from a drug store chain, WalMart, Bed Bath & Beyond,a gunsmith, and even a school library. Drug store shelving Display case when WalMart remodeled jewelry department. greg
  5. Nice looking project, Did you ever consider yellow and red rims instead of the gray and red? greg
  6. Looking good. You might want to scratch build a switch module that would go on top of the dash. A two way radio would be optional or a CB radio as around 59 2way radio was just getting around to being used. greg
  7. Your not going to believe this but I use windshield washer fluid shot through an air brush, then blow dry with air only out of brush. The cheaper the better for fluid as it's got less cleaner in it. greg
  8. Further information on the Z siren I now know where George Lukas got the Madolarian's face from.? greg
  9. Years ago Chrysler company had a bumper sticker for their workers that said 'I buy what I build'. I cut it up and made it say 'I build what I buy'. Had a hobby friend who had the mantra of buying three of the same kit. One to build, one to speculate, and one to hoard and did he hoard, left his family a nightmare. I've always said a bag of modeling clay is just that until the artist changes it into a piece of art. Build what you buy that's what the hobby is about. greg
  10. looks like the AMT Triumph knock off greg
  11. I finally found the real thing: Federal model Z siren: From F.F. Hicks collection greg
  12. Thanks for the info. I'll stick to chopping my Coca-Cola van apart. greg
  13. I need some information: greg
  14. Nice job. How long did it take you to remove the lower trim off the doors? Nice push bumper. Never understood why Lindberg never deleted the trim on the cop car model. greg
  15. Thank you for your service to the Country, Nice work on the Holmes. Years ago Phil Jensen did a 'how to' using parts from the AMT wrecker. I built mine years ago. Have you looked for a broken First Gear that might have been useful? greg
  16. So here are the cots. I don't have the latest from the 59 Caddy. greg
  17. My Hades on earth as a young builder: Slammed the Ford pick up to the floor, hated the 57 Chevy with all the opening features. Watched the wheels melt into the tires. greg
  18. Nice build. I like multi colored semis. greg
  19. The cot from the van is worse than the cot you have. The casted cot looks like mismatched parts off of the JoHan cot. If I'm up to it I'll post photos of the cots later. greg
  20. The only ambulance gurneys or cots that have kit origins are: AMT Chevy rescue van JoHan Cadillac ambulance MPC 1/20th scale Ford Van and now the AMT re pop 1959 Cadillac greg
  21. I would suggest contacting the Indianapolis Speedway Museum. The first race car with a rear view mirror. greg
  22. Isn't that an MPC Firebird? greg
  23. Now there is another interesting question. What was the last aluminum car that AMT made. I would conjecture that it was in the mid 50's as I believe the first plastic kits were 1958. I don't know when they switched to plastic promotionals. greg
  24. To have your most desirable model kit you've wanted in front of you and..................................... 1 You are unable to get box open 2 You have no glue, paint, or exacto knife. 3 Parts won't come off the trees 4 Loose parts fall further in the abyss 5 Directions are for another kit 6 Directions are in foreign language. add your own dilemma greg
