  1. Nice start, like where you are going with this. I just picked up another one of those Blazer kits today at Ollies, might have to consider using two of them like you did here to build a 'Burban!
  2. I'd swear that is a real truck! Incredible scratchbuilding and weathering.
  3. Got one of those here in Charlotte for about $10, figured it was worth that much in parts alone. Gonna drop that 429 into a Mobieus F100!
  4. Check your mailbox Matt, I finally got the measurements you wanted!
  5. He shut it down 8 years ago. He had nice stuff.
  6. You could probably modify a frame from a Jeep kit to work. Not sure P&P is still shipping items, hadn't seen Eric at any local shows and rumor had it he has been sick and not casting as of late.
  7. Ah, admit it Harry, it was a subliminal message to buy a back issue of the magazine! Glad to see you on here more, hope you are doing better these days!
  8. The B&N at the Arboretum in Charlotte had issue 202 today, made for some good reading during meal time!
  9. Check with RMR resins, I think they have one. Don't believe it was ever available as a plastic kit.
  10. Agreed, but I would imagine one of the reasons we are seeing this kit is that there was minimal tooling costs. Body, chassis, interior and glass is all they needed- running gear and suspension pieces, bumpers and hood were already done. Be interesting to see if they do a panel delivery or a surf wagon next!
  11. Back when I traveled a lot for work, I signed up for the card at a store in Midlothian VA, only to find out that the discounts associated with the card were for that store only. I would find some stuff to buy and then via email I would get a coupon. Tried to use it here in Charlotte and at first was turned away, until the owner stepped in and honored it. I like the idea of getting a rebate or discount, but unfortunately the closest HT is about an hour away and they always had kits at full MSRP, paints and supplies were high too.
  12. I doubt we will see a 4wd version, but converting a 2wd to 4wd shouldn't be too much of a problem.
  13. You ain't the only one buddy! I traded off a badly cast resin body in the hopes that someone would do it right, and it sounds like they are! Glad to hear Revell listening and bringing us some much needed new stuff!
  14. The wife went to see it when it first came out. Living in Charlotte, we indirectly knew a couple of people that were on that flight. It was well reviewed and received here in Charlotte by some of the passengers. The plane is on display at the aviation museum here at the airport. Glad you liked it Harry! That must be a good sign if you are out enjoying the movies!!!!
  15. Thanks for sharing, lot of nice models there, really liked the two red Jeeps, especially the wrecker !
  16. Well, we lost power yesterday for 5 hours and I used my new lighted Xacto knife, along with a razor saw, and began the process of modifying the 84 GMC chassis to fit the 72 cab. As mentioned above, I cut the incorrect inner fenders out of the 72 and slightly trimmed the ones on the 84 and it fits almost like they were made for each other! I had to get back to my honey do list once the power was back on and will try to do some more work this week on it. I will assemble the resin short bed from Bandit and see how well that fits on the chassis, hoping it won't take much. I think I might modify the chassis from the 72 and build a quick curbside short bed 84, not sure.
  17. I was busy working at a customer's shop today sorting fasteners and organizing the drawers for them when my phone rang. I looked at the number, didn't recognize it and almost didn't answer it because I thought it was pollster or telemarketer but being in the business world you never know if a customer has a phone number with an area code from halfway across the country. I was pleasantly surprised to hear my son's voice! He has been at Ft. Leonard Wood since August 15th and haven't spoken to him since that day. He had 4 minutes to talk and borrowed a fellow soldier's phone to call and just wanted to say he was looking forward to seeing us in 3 weeks at graduation. He is doing well and says it is getting easier to see the finish line! Not sure if it is true, but he sure sounded more grown up than he did 2 months ago, even though he is 23 ! Made my day and of course my wife was jealous he didn't call her!
  18. I can check tomorrow, I know I have a built one in the stash that I can measure. Send me a PM with what exactly you need measured and I will get the information to you.
  19. Ron, Thank you for the detailed review and whether you realize it or not, you have become a "salesman" for Round 2! I bought the snap version of this kit as I like to crank out quick builds in between the more detailed builds, much like you. Now that you have shown the detail in this new kit, it is on my radar to add to my list of "someday builds". I like the comment you made regarding some of the snap kits- the ones that you can build in a matter of hours and get instant gratification. I believe that is the spirit behind the series and whether you are a long time modeler or some young kid who likes cars, having a completed model to show off after a small amount of time invested is the desired result the model companies are after. I have a friend who has a 2016 convertible, it will be interesting to see if R2 brings out a drop top version to compliment the hardtop as I would love to build a replica of his car for him.
  20. Another creative masterpiece, complete with weathering! Love it!
  21. I took a look at some of the models coming out and realized that I had most of them in the stash or they were not of interest to me. That said, I contributed the cost equivalent of a couple of models and will be doing like others and looking for ways to sell off unneeded items for Harry's benefit. While we all have our struggles, mine pale in comparison to what Harry is facing and I have a feeling if the shoe was on the other foot, Harry would be leading the charge to help one of us. We can all forgo a lunch out, another model kit, a night at the movies or whatever else might be considered a luxury to help Harry.
  22. Stopped in this morning and snatched up that Blazer! They had some other models on an end cap display by the toy aisle, mostly Ford Crown Vics.
  23. Jim, Both of my kids were in JROTC in high school and their friends were in that same group, and the manners they were taught and the respect they show is very heartwarming to my wife and I. My son decided at age 22 to join the National Guard and is currently in boot camp at Ft. Leonard Wood Mo. The letters we get are funny as they are progressively getting more detail about what he is doing. Very proud of my son and his decision to join the military. I think it is awesome that your daughter has chosen a career as a pilot and it must be fun for her to tell unsuspecting folks that she is a fighter pilot! Thank her for me for her dedication and service and all of her friends as well. Joining the military is not for everyone but most that do have a passion for it, I know that is true for my son.
  24. I would have snatched up that snap Blazer, the tires aren't that great but the rest of it builds decent. I will have to swing by there tomorrow and see if it is still there.
  25. I noted that as well. Hopefully it is a simple fix as the kit sounds like a winner otherwise.
